What is a remote electrical engineer?

A remote electrical engineer is a professional who designs, develops, tests, and supervises the manufacturing of electrical equipment and systems while working from a location outside a traditional office or on-site setting. Using digital tools and communication platforms, they collaborate with teams, manage projects, and perform technical tasks from home or other remote locations. This role is ideal for those who have strong technical skills, are self-motivated, and can work independently while ensuring that all engineering standards and deadlines are met.

How do remote electrical engineers typically collaborate with on-site teams to ensure successful project delivery?

Remote electrical engineers often use collaboration tools like video conferencing, cloud-based design platforms, and project management software to stay connected with on-site teams. They participate in regular virtual meetings to discuss project updates, resolve technical challenges, and coordinate design changes. Clear communication and detailed documentation are essential to bridging the physical distance, ensuring that all stakeholders are aligned on project requirements and timelines. Successfully working remotely in this role requires proactive engagement and strong organizational skills to manage tasks effectively across locations.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote electrical engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Electrical Engineer, you need a solid background in electrical engineering principles, problem-solving abilities, and a relevant degree such as a BS or MS in Electrical Engineering. Job description

Electrical Designer – Aerospace (Remote Contract)

Join an innovative aerospace engineering team supporting aircraft modernization and next-generation electrical system integration. This is a long-term remote contract (12+ months) where you'll play a key role designing complex aircraft electrical systems for high-impact engineering programs.

In this role, you'll develop wire harnesses, electrical schematics, and system layouts using Capital Logic, while creating wiring diagrams, connector tables, cable assemblies, and engineering documentation required for FAA certification. You'll collaborate closely with mechanical, avionics, and manufacturing teams to integrate electrical systems into aircraft, troubleshoot design challenges, and support testing and certification efforts. Your work will directly contribute to the reliability, safety, and performance of advanced aerospace platforms.

What We're Looking For:

  • 3+ years of electrical design experience in aerospace, defense, automotive, or heavy equipment industries

  • Strong proficiency with Capital Logic for schematic capture and wire harness design (required)

  • Experience designing and documenting wire harnesses, electrical interconnects, and system schematics

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and engineering specifications

  • Knowledge of FAA, MIL-STD, DO-160, or similar industry standards

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary engineering teams

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with SolidWorks Electrical, Zuken, or similar electrical CAD tools

  • Previous aircraft retrofit, modification, or modernization experience

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Avionics, or a related field

Note: Candidates with extensive Capital Logic experience in the automotive industry (including OEM programs such as Daimler) are encouraged to apply, even without prior aerospace experience.
