• Conduct thorough mental health assessments for geriatric residents to evaluate their psychological needs and develop personalized treatment plans.
• Facilitate individual and group counseling sessions focused on addressing the emotional and psychological challenges associated with aging, such as anxiety, depression, and coping with loss.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to formulate comprehensive care plans that address the holistic needs of elderly clients.
• Provide education and resources to family members and caregivers, equipping them with strategies to support their loved ones’ mental health and emotional care.
• Deliver grief and bereavement counseling to residents and their families grappling with the loss of loved ones and preparing for end-of-life issues.
• Implement cognitive stimulation activities and evidence-based mental health interventions designed to maintain and enhance the mental acuity of elderly individuals.
• Monitor progress and adjust treatment strategies as necessary to ensure optimal therapeutic outcomes for clients.

This position is specifically tailored to cater to the mental health needs of seniors, addressing issues related to loss, life transitions, and age-related mental health challenges. You will work predominantly with individuals experiencing cognitive decline, emotional distress, and significant life changes, providing a compassionate and understanding environment for them to express their feelings and work towards healing.

• A Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling from an accredited institution or university.
• Current, valid Licensure as a Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in the state of Washington.
• A minimum of four years of recent clinical experience, specifically in geriatric counseling and mental health support.
• Strong understanding of evidence-based interventions applicable to aging-related mental health issues.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, emphasizing the ability to connect with elderly clients and their families.
• Cultural competence and empathy, essential for effectively supporting a diverse senior population.

• Formal training or specialization in geriatric mental health and age-related issues is highly preferred.
