Job description

In the early 1900s, advertising pioneer Helen Lansdowne Resor helped popularize a new idea: people are more likely to pay attention to something that genuinely interests them than something that simply asks for their attention.
Decades later, the channels may have changed, but the principle hasn't, and we're looking for someone who wants to apply that principle creatively.
Mercury's Stories team is hiring a Content Marketer to help create, distribute, and amplify exceptional content for founders and entrepreneurs - people building companies, navigating uncertainty, and trying to make better decisions every day.
In this role, you'll contribute ideas, develop distribution strategies, experiment with new formats, and help us get more value from the work we already produce. We're looking for someone with strong creative instincts; a deep understanding of how content moves online; a love for making educational content dynamic, magnetic, and experiential; and a genuine curiosity about founders, startups, and business building.
If this sounds like you...
  • A strong writer and creative thinker who enjoys turning complex topics into engaging content...
  • Someone who is genuinely curious about founders, startups, business building, and the ideas that shape ambitious companies...
  • A marketer who uses data and audience insights to guide decisions without losing sight of creativity and craft...
  • An AI-native operator who uses new tools and workflows to increase their leverage, move efficiently, and make work truly better (not just make more things, faster)
  • A curious observer of internet culture, media trends, and changing content formats, and what differentiates good from great from exceptional
  • A self-directed builder who thrives in remote-first, async environments and brings momentum, clarity, and strong communication to collaborative work...

...then read on.
In this role, you will:
  • Create content that supports Mercury's educational content program, strategic campaigns, and brand initiatives
  • Work cross-functionally to develop and execute distribution plans that help content reach larger, highly relevant audiences
  • Repurpose content across formats and channels, including social, email, video, partnerships, and emerging platforms
  • Collaborate on SEO and AEO strategies without ever leaning into slop
  • Experiment with new content formats, creative approaches, and distribution strategies
  • Use performance data and audience insights to improve content effectiveness and inform future work
  • Leverage AI tools and workflows to accelerate research, ideation, production, and content repurposing
  • Help build repeatable systems and production processes that increase the impact and efficiency
You have:
  • 5+ years of experience in content marketing, audience development, creator media, social media, or related fields
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, with a strong bias toward execution; bonus points for video and/or audio experience and fluency
  • Experience creating and distributing content across channels and formats
  • Fluency with modern content and AI tools, and enthusiasm for adopting new technologies
  • Strong judgment informed by data, audience insights, and performance signals
  • A track record of operating independently, managing projects, and getting high-quality work out the door
  • Your finger on the pulse of internet culture, media trends, and the evolving content landscape

Please submit your portfolio or work samples, as well as a short cover letter, with your application. Applications without work samples and a cover letter will not be considered.
