Editorial Specialist Job Summary:

Sparks Group is working with a research firm to find an experienced Editorial Specialist to join its editorial team. As an Editorial Specialist, you will work on proposals and client deliverables such as research study reports, manuals, web content, and internal and external communication products.

This is a fully remote, Contract opportunity that would require you to work 40 hours per week, EST hours. While fully remote, you must currently reside in AL, DC, FL, GA, IN, NC, MA, MD, MO, MS, OH, OK, TN, TX or VA. Applicants residing in other states will not be considered.

Editorial Specialist Responsibilities:

  • Copyediting for accuracy, consistency, and conformity to style and tone across print, web, and multimedia platforms.
  • Understanding and implementing client style guides for identity guidelines, usage, and formatting.
  • Reviewing a wide variety of products targeted to different audiences across several research topics, including health, social policy, and education.
  • Applying plain language principles and writing for web best practices.
  • Working collaboratively with materials development teams on large projects to schedule and perform editorial tasks.
  • Participating in meetings with teams and clients.

Editorial Specialist Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 7+ years of copyediting and production editing experience.
  • Previous work experience in assessing materials for editorial needs, prioritizing work, and shifting gears as needed; managing a workload with both short- and long-term projects.
  • Experience using a variety of style manuals (e.g., APA, Chicago, GPO) and the ability to learn and apply other client styles.
  • Demonstrated ability to edit and format references per various style guides.
  • Demonstrated skill in editing a variety of documents, including proposals, reports, and presentations.
  • Experience working with teams of authors, editors, graphic designers, and production specialists.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Experience with Monday.com and Box a plus.

Pay Range: Hourly $32.00 to $42.00
