Job Summary

This position is responsible for reviewing, editing, and auditing legal opinions and other caselaw content generated through AI-assisted processes. The role requires applying established Legal Editing Guidelines to quickly and accurately identify legal issues and determinethe precedential impact to cases and statutes cited within opinion to ensure legal accuracy and proper analysis of legal precedent.

The Editor/Publisher II evaluates the relationship between citing and cited authorities, determines precedential impact, and applies appropriate history and treatment letters and phrases. This role requires strong analytical judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to deliver high-quality work within defined timelines.

This is a home-based position.

Key Responsibilities

Legal Analysis & Editorial Decision-Making

  • Analyze legal documents to identify key issues and determine precedential relationships between cases and statutes
  • Apply approved history and treatment letters and phrases in accordance with Legal Editing Guidelines

Content Review & Validation

Review history and treatment lettering against source material to ensure accuracy of legal issues and outcomes

Identify gaps, inconsistencies, or misinterpretations in output and correct as needed

Quality & Workflow Execution

Ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of all editorial work

Meet production targets and deadlines while maintaining high quality standards

Verify history chains and treatment relationships using designated tools and workflows

Issue Resolution & Continuous Improvement

Resolve complex editorial and legal analysis questions

Identify guideline ambiguities or workflow improvements and raise them through appropriate channels

Perform additional editorial or administrative tasks as assigned

  • JD, LLB, or LLM degree
  • Strong legal research, analytical, and writing skills
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply legal precedent and editorial guidelines
