Communication Strategist II - NASA Langley Research Center, Hampton, VA
We are seeking an experienced Communication Strategist to support the Strategic Partnerships Office at NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, VA. This position is responsible for planning, developing, and executing integrated communication strategies that align with NASA’s mission, priorities, and organizational messaging.
The NASA Langley Strategic Partnerships Office (SPO) connects NASA with industry, academia, and government to advance aeronautics, Earth science, and space exploration. The office leverages Langley’s specialized capabilities and builds partnerships through Space Act Agreements and other collaborative frameworks. Its work supports technology transfer, economic development, and joint research in emerging air mobility, remote sensing, advanced space systems, unmanned aircraft, and small scientific payloads.
Key Responsibilities
  • Quickly gain fluency on SPO’s vision and mission, as well as the needs of key stakeholders within the organization.
  • Contribute to strategic communications planning.
  • Develop mission overview materials, including resources and briefing materials for SPO events.
  • Provide event planning support for SPO events. Responsibilities include logistics support, executive coordination, run-of-show development, presentation materials, remarks and talking points, and corresponding communications.
  • Develop key messages and talking points for speaking engagements in coordination with the SPO leadership.
  • Draft and coordinate reviews of written communication products, including press releases, web articles, executive remarks, program operational updates, and media statements.
  • Support the integration of program content into NASA’s digital platforms and social‑media presence.
  • Maintain and update web content as needed.
  • Participate in meetings with the organization and SPO leadership and collaborate across agency communications teams.
  • Plan and execute employee engagement initiatives to enhance workplace culture and foster knowledge sharing across the program.
  • Draft and distribute internal communications to drive awareness and program alignment.
  • Support integrated communications initiatives in collaboration with program teams, ensuring alignment with NASA brand standards, communications guidance, and agency policies.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, writing, or related field
  • Minimum of five years of relevant experience
  • Proficient writer with strong command of AP style (writing samples required)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience managing a high volume of products with competing priorities
