About the Roleย 

Serve asย a leader in attracting businesses to NC. Manageย business recruitment projects. Collaborate with colleagues to meet organizationalย priorities andย collaborate with internal/external economic development allies to develop comprehensive and meaningful agendas for client visits.ย 


What You'll Do ย 

Project Managementย 

  • Workย directly with client'sย internal representatives or a professional site selection consultant toย manageย all stages of aย business recruitment project, fromย initialย interest in NCย toย final location decisionย ย 
  • Designย comprehensive responses to requests for information andย address all aspects ofย a potential project ย 
  • Conductย due diligence examination of a company's financial and strategic viabilityย 
  • Identifyย real estate optionsย ย 
  • Evaluateย labor and supplier availability ย 
  • Resolve infrastructure andย permitย issuesย ย 
  • Developย comprehensiveย state and localย proposal outlining potential incentives, tax benefits,ย etc. in partnership with the NC Department of Commerce and local economic developers ย 
  • Serveย as the point of contact for the state of North Carolina, makingย introductionsย toย state and community officialsย as needed toย meetย prospect needsย 
  • Facilitateย and hostย clientย visitsย to the state toย evaluate projectย locationย opportunitiesย 
  • Visits may include interaction among C-level company executives and senior state officials,ย followย up withย clientย as neededย ย 
  • Utilize Salesforce to report andย maintainย current project activity and news about client's strategic operationsย ย 

Regional/Community Partner Liaisonย 

  • Serve as a state-level point of contact for local economic developers in their pursuit ofย newย businessย opportunitiesย ย 
  • Participateย in locally hosted meetings with prospectsย ย 
  • Serve asย educationย resourceย regardingย state incentives and other state support for projects generated at the local levelย ย 

Relationship Management ย 

  • Encourageย development of strong networks with partners and site location consultantsย ย 
  • Promoteย the state's business opportunitiesย to site location consultants and corporate decision makers through marketingย events, conferences/forumsย and one-on-one meetingsย ย 
  • Participateย inย cooperative marketing tripsย withย local economic developersย in orderย toย promote NC's regions toย site location consultantsย 

Requirements

Who Should Applyย 

  • Bachelor's degreeย or equivalent experience; Prior economic development experience preferredย ย 
  • Excellent interpersonalย skills, including theย ability to connect with corporate decision makers/site locationย consultants, community leadersย and colleagues at the Partnership and the North Carolina Department ofย Commerceย ย 
  • Excellentย oral and writtenย communication and presentation skillsย ย 
  • Ability to analyze customer needs, present solutionsย and add value through delivery of state incentives and other forms of supportย ย 
  • Ability to manageย project managementย workload, placingย top priority on providing fast andย accurateย information when requestedย ย 
  • Ability to compete in an aggressive yet professional mannerย ย 
  • Knowledge of economic developmentย policies,ย benefitsย and discretionary incentives optionsย at the state and local levelย ย 
  • Diplomacy in serving as an ambassador of the state,ย remainingย non-political as a representative of a public-private recruitment and marketing organizationย ย ย ย ย 
  • Experience leading and winning economic development projectsย ย 
  • Abilityย toย work collaboratively with all team members on the EDPNC staff as well as with key external alliesย 

Travel and Work Conditionsย 

  • Moderate in-state and domestic travel is requiredย
