What You’ll Get to Do
Echo Power is seeking an experienced Engineering Designer to lead design efforts on complex engineering projects supporting critical infrastructure, healthcare, industrial, and utility environments. In this role, you will serve as a senior technical resource within the design team, collaborating closely with Engineers, Project Managers, and cross-functional disciplines to deliver high-quality, code-compliant project documentation and technical solutions.

This is a primarily remote role with occasional travel as needed to support project and client requirements (less than 10%).
Key responsibilities include:
  • Lead design development for complex electrical systems related to Substation Protection and Control projects
  • Prepare and review detailed engineering drawings, layouts, schematics, and construction documents
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, client requirements, and industry best practices
  • Coordinate with Engineers, Designers, Project Managers, and external stakeholders to resolve design challenges and maintain project alignment
  • Support project planning, scheduling, and deliverable coordination across multiple active projects
  • Participate in design reviews, constructability reviews, and technical meetings
  • Assist with field verification, site visits, and as-built documentation as required
  • Support client interactions and contribute to successful project delivery
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior Designers and Drafters
  • Promote continuous improvement of design standards, workflows, and documentation practices
What You Bring
  • Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD Electrical, Revit, MicroStation, Bluebeam, SBS Substation Design Suite, or other relevant CAD platforms
  • Advanced technical knowledge in engineering design and construction documentation related to Substation Protection and Control projects
  • Strong understanding of applicable industry codes and standards
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities with the capacity to manage complex project scopes
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills across multidisciplinary teams
  • Ability to work independently while supporting team development and mentorship
  • Strong work ethic, accountability, and commitment to project excellence
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, SharePoint, and project collaboration tools
Education amp; Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology, Drafting/Design, or related field preferred
  • 6–10 years of progressive engineering design experience
    -or-
  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  • Experience supporting substation utility projects required
  • Please Note: Mid- to Senior-level candidates will be considered for this role. Candidates will be placed into the appropriate level based on relevant experience and interview performance.
Job Location
Our HQ office is located in Tennessee. However, this is primarily a remote position with occasional travel as needed to support project requirements (less than 10%).
Pay amp; Benefits
  • Salary (based on education and experience):
    • Mid-level/Designer II: $80,000 – $95,000
    • Senior Designer: $95,000 – $120,000
