The Remote Dog Model and Remote Pet Model roles are similar, primarily involving photo or video shoots for pet-related products. What are some challenges unique to working as a remote dog model and how can they be addressed?

Working as a remote dog model comes with unique challenges, such as ensuring that your dog remains calm and focused during photo or video shoots in a home environment. Distractions, lighting issues, and technical difficulties with virtual direction are common. Success often requires patience, a well-trained dog comfortable with commands, and a dedicated space set up for shoots. Building reliable communication with photographers or clients, often via video calls, is also essential. Preparing ahead of each session and practicing basic obedience can help make the process smoother and more enjoyable for both you and your dog.

What is a remote dog model?

Remote dog models are dogs that participate in photo or video shoots, advertisements, or promotional campaigns from their own home or other remote locations, rather than traveling to a studio or set. Their owners typically coordinate with brands, photographers, or agencies online to capture specific images or videos as required. This arrangement allows dogs and their owners to work with clients from different parts of the world without being physically present, making modeling more accessible and less stressful for the animals.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote dog model?

To thrive as a Remote Dog Model, dogs typically need to be well-trained, responsive to commands, and have an appealing appearance, often supported by basic obedience training or certifications like Canine Good Citizen. Owners may use tools such as high-quality cameras, video conferencing platforms, and pet modeling agency systems to participate in remote shoots. Patience, adaptability, and the ability to build rapport between the dog, handler, and clients are key soft skills in this role. These qualities ensure the dog can perform reliably on camera, meet client expectations, and contribute to successful modeling sessions from a remote setting.

Description

About Rokt

Rokt is an ecommerce technology company with the mission of making every transaction more relevant. The Rokt Ecommerce Network leverages proprietary machine learning recommendation systems, powering billions of transactions for hundreds of millions of customers, and is trusted to do this by companies like Live Nation, Fanatics, Macyโ€™s, AMC Theatres, PayPal, Uber, Hulu, Staples, Albertsons and HelloFresh.

We're Looking for Senior Software Engineers

We are recruiting Senior Software Engineering roles across Roktโ€™s core platform teams. These roles design, build, and maintain the scalable services behind Rokt's ecommerce platform, which powers over 10 billion transactions a year.
Compensation
Target total compensation ranges from $335k - $400k, comprised of a fixed annual salary of $210k - $260k, plus employee equity plan grant. In addition, you will receive world-class employee benefits.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain and improve scalable services dealing with ultra high-throughput.
  • Write high quality, maintainable code in languages like Go, Scala, Java, C#, or TypeScript.
  • Troubleshoot production issues, conduct incident root cause analysis, optimise performance, and maintain scalable solutions under real traffic.
  • Drive performance optimisations and refactors that improve system reliability, latency, and cost.
  • Own architectural decisions and contribute to system design reviews.
  • Research and leverage AI tooling, LLMs, and agents to automate manual processes, accelerate learning, and lift developer productivity.
  • Mentor junior engineers and set technical direction on scalability and observability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to align engineering delivery with business objectives.
  • Manage priorities, deadlines, and deliverables, owning and operating with autonomy.
  • Participate in on-call rotation: Rokt engineering teams own their systems end to end, including building, running, monitoring, and break-fix.

Requirements

  • Relevant bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) and 4+ years in commercial software development, designing, building, and operating distributed systems in modern languages like C#, Go, Java, Scala, or TypeScript.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability across troubleshooting, performance, and scale.
  • Experience taking your own code to production and operating it.
  • Experience with cloud platforms, CI/CD pipelines, and containerisation and orchestration tools (Docker/Kubernetes).
  • Willingness to work 4 day in-office, 1 day remote weekly schedule.

+ Experience relevant to one or more of the following:

  • High-throughput, low-latency distributed systems. Designing and operating internet scale backend services and APIs, with versioning, performance, scalability, and reliability treated as first-order concerns.
  • Data engineering. Building and scaling ingestion and storage on open-source foundations like Kafka, Spark, Cassandra, Iceberg, and Trino. Owning data systems that stay correct and queryable as volume grows by orders of magnitude.
  • MLOps. Building the infrastructure that lets ML move from notebook to production: feature and data access at scale, model management & training, deployment, and the tooling ML Applied Scientists depend on to ship and iterate.
  • Site Reliability Engineering. Owning the operational surface of high-traffic systems: observability, anomaly detection, incident response, and automations that keep on-call sustainable as the network grows.
  • Web & Mobile front-end & SDKs. Building and Refining Rokt's Web and Mobile Software Development Kits for performance, security, and seamless integration across thousands of partner environments.

Benefits

  • Equity in a profitable, fast-growing company approaching $1 Billion in revenue.
  • Dollar-for-dollar 401K matching plan (up to 4% of fixed annual remuneration)
  • Fully funded health insurance (Dental, Optical, and Medical)
  • Generous allowances for wellness, technology, mobile, and transit.
  • Daily catered lunch, stocked pantry & fridges
  • Dog-friendly offices
  • Extra leave (bonus annual leave, sabbatical leave etc.)

Equal employment opportunities are available to all applicants without regard to race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.

If this sounds like a role youโ€™d enjoy, apply here, and youโ€™ll hear from our recruiting team.
