What is a Remote DoD Software Engineer?

A Remote DoD Software Engineer is a professional who develops, tests, and maintains software systems for the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) while working from a remote location. These engineers play a critical role in creating secure and reliable applications that support military and defense operations. They must often meet strict security and technical requirements, including obtaining security clearances and following DoD-specific software development standards. Remote DoD Software Engineers collaborate with multidisciplinary teams using secure communication tools and are responsible for ensuring their work complies with government regulations and cybersecurity protocols.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a Remote DoD Software Engineer?

To thrive as a Remote DoD Software Engineer, you need strong programming skills, knowledge of secure software development practices, and a relevant degree—often with active security clearance. Familiarity with languages like Java, C++, or Python, experience with DoD-approved development environments, and certifications such as Security+ or CISSP are typically required. Excellent problem-solving, communication, and self-motivation are vital soft skills for remote collaboration and adhering to strict security protocols. These skills ensure the development of secure, reliable software that meets defense standards while maintaining effective teamwork and compliance in a remote setting.

What are some unique challenges faced by Remote DoD Software Engineers, and how can they be addressed?

Remote DoD Software Engineers often encounter challenges related to secure access and communication, since much of their work involves handling sensitive or classified information. Navigating stringent cybersecurity protocols, such as working within secure VPNs or using government-approved devices, can be complex and may require additional onboarding. To address these challenges, engineers should proactively communicate with IT and security teams, stay updated on compliance requirements, and leverage secure collaboration tools provided by their organization. Independent Federal Recruiter - Remote

Booker DiMaio, LLC

Sykesville, MD • Remote

Contractor

Posted 4 days ago

Job description

Earn $10,000-$35,000 Per Placement

Booker DiMaio is looking for experienced independent recruiters with a strong track record recruiting cleared IT professionals, particularly candidates holding TS/SCI clearances with Full Scope Polygraphs.

We recruit for federal government programs and are looking for recruiters who already know the cleared community and can identify and engage qualified candidates from their own network.

The Opportunity

This is an independent, commission-only recruiting opportunity, not a W-2 position. There are no required hours, quotas, or minimum activity requirements.

You choose which opportunities you want to work and use your own recruiting network and sourcing resources to identify qualified candidates.

When you refer a candidate who we ultimately hire, you earn a placement fee based on the candidate's first-year salary. Placement fees typically range from $10,000-$35,000 per placement.

Booker DiMaio hires the candidates directly as W-2 employees. We handle the employment, onboarding, payroll, and benefits after a successful hire.

Who We're Looking For

We're particularly interested in recruiters who have:

  • Proven experience recruiting TS/SCI cleared professionals
  • Significant experience recruiting candidates with Full Scope Polygraphs
  • An established network of candidates within the Intelligence Community, NSA, DoD, or other federal programs
  • Experience recruiting technical professionals such as software engineers, cybersecurity professionals, systems engineers, data professionals, and other cleared IT talent
  • Strong relationships with candidates who hold active security clearances
  • Experience with federal contractors or government recruiting
  • The ability to independently source and engage candidates using their own network and recruiting resources
Why This Opportunity?

This is designed for recruiters who already have access to the cleared candidate market and want to monetize that network without taking on another full-time recruiting job.

There are:

  • No W-2 employment requirements
  • No required hours
  • No quotas
  • No geographic restrictions
  • No limit on the number of placements you can make
  • $10,000-$35,000 per placement

If you know the cleared recruiting market, have relationships with TS/SCI and Full Scope Polygraph candidates, and want to earn substantial placement fees as an independent recruiter, we'd like to hear from you.

Apply to start a conversation with our recruiting team.
