Job description

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client that is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer -Power Distribution in Phoenix, AZ. This is Full Remote.
Summary:
A growing, nationwide engineering company is seeking multiple Senior Electrical Engineers to support continued expansion. These roles are direct-hire searches, and we are working closely with the hiring manager. In this role, you will lead the design of power distribution and control systems for industry leading customers across the United States. The company offers a competitive compensation package, including base salary, annual bonus, 401(k) match, and comprehensive benefits. This position follows a hybrid schedule (3 days remote/2 days onsite), with potential flexibility for additional remote work for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and oversee designs for low- and medium-voltage switchgear, switchboards, panelboards, and control panels
* Develop one-line and three-line power distribution drawings and detailed electrical schematics for control systems
* Evaluate drawings and specifications to ensure designs meet customer requirements and applicable industry standards
* Provide technical guidance on sizing electrical components, including transformers, CTs, fuses, cabling, bus systems, and circuit breakers, in accordance with UL 891 and NEC
* Develop sequences of operation, testing procedures, and validation plans for power distribution and control equipment
* Support manufacturing, testing, quality, and field service teams to ensure accurate and effective implementation of designs
* Configure and/or program devices such as PLCs, VFDs, protective relays, transfer switches, circuit breakers, and controllers
* Lead cross-functional collaboration to identify optimal product and process solutions
* Mentor junior engineers through design reviews, training development, and technical guidance
REQUIREMENTS:
* Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; Master's degree preferred
* Minimum of 7 years of experience in DC power systems engineering, with at least 3 years in a senior or lead role
* Proven expertise in designing and deploying DC power systems for data centers, telecom, or renewable energy applications
* Proficiency in DC power system design tools (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, MATLAB, PSpice)
* Deep knowledge of power electronics, battery technologies (e.g., lithium-ion, VRLA), and energy storage systems
* Familiarity with control systems, SCADA, and BMS for power monitoring and management
* Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
* Excellent communication and leadership abilities
* Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
Preferred/Nice to Have:
* PE license is a plus, but not required
* Experience with low- and medium-voltage switchgear and power systems design
* Manufacturing experience, including BOMs, drawing packages, work instructions, and testing plans
* Experience with PLC and/or HMI systems
* Proficiency with tools such as AutoCAD Electrical, MATLAB, PSpice, or similar
* Controls engineering background
* Leadership or mentoring experience
* Industry experience in any of the following would be ideal Public Utilities, Critical Power (UPS), Data Centers, Renewables, Energy, Semiconductor, or Manufacturing
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
