What is a Remote Dispute Resolution job?

A Remote Dispute Resolution job involves mediating conflicts, handling claims, or resolving disputes between parties through online platforms, emails, or virtual meetings. Professionals in this role may work in legal, financial, or customer service settings, helping clients settle disagreements without in-person interaction. The job requires strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills. Many roles involve working for companies, legal firms, or independent mediation services.

What are some typical challenges faced by professionals in remote dispute resolution roles?

Professionals in remote dispute resolution often face challenges related to building rapport and trust between parties in a virtual setting, as non-verbal cues can be harder to interpret online. Technical issues, such as unstable internet connections and unfamiliarity with digital mediation tools, may also arise. Additionally, maintaining confidentiality and ensuring all parties feel heard and respected can require extra attention when working remotely. However, with strong communication strategies and technical preparedness, these challenges are manageable and can even lead to more flexible, widely accessible resolution processes.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Remote Dispute Resolution position, and why are they important?

To thrive in Remote Dispute Resolution, you need strong analytical abilities, negotiation skills, and a background in conflict management or law, often supported by a degree or relevant certification such as ADR (Alternative Dispute Resolution). Familiarity with mediation software, secure virtual meeting platforms (like Zoom or Microsoft Teams), and case management systems is typical in this role. Excellent written and verbal communication, impartiality, and active listening are essential soft skills for effective dispute resolution. These competencies ensure fair and efficient handling of disputes in virtual environments, maintaining professionalism and productive outcomes for all parties involved.

Job description

Our client is seeking a proven Accounts Receivable leader to take ownership of a large-scale, multi-location AR function supporting a rapidly growing organization. This individual will inherit a complex operation spanning multiple business units and geographically dispersed teams, including personnel in Memphis, Atlanta, and Mexico.

The organization recently completed a significant acquisition that increased both revenue and operational complexity. As a result, leadership is seeking an experienced AR professional who can implement best practices, improve processes, strengthen controls, and lead a high-performing team with minimal oversight.

This is a highly visible role with significant influence on cash flow, collections strategy, process improvement, and organizational effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead all Accounts Receivable and Collections activities across multiple business divisions.
  • Manage a high-volume AR environment processing approximately 15,000+ transactions monthly.
  • Direct and develop teams located in Memphis, Atlanta, and Mexico.
  • Establish scalable processes, controls, and performance metrics to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Drive collections performance, cash application accuracy, dispute resolution, and aging management.
  • Evaluate existing workflows and implement process improvements, automation opportunities, and system enhancements.
  • Partner closely with Finance, Operations, and Executive Leadership to support business objectives and working capital goals.
  • Build accountability throughout the AR organization while creating a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Provide leadership through organizational change, integration efforts, and future growth initiatives.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for AR operations and collection strategies.
Ideal Background
  • 8+ years of progressive Accounts Receivable, Credit, Collections, Shared Services, or Order-to-Cash leadership experience.
  • Experience managing high-volume AR environments.
  • Proven success leading multi-site and/or remote teams.
  • Strong process improvement and systems implementation experience.
  • Ability to analyze operational challenges, identify root causes, and implement lasting solutions.
  • Experience supporting multiple business units or complex organizational structures.
  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to operate independently and drive results.
  • Experience in construction, building products, distribution, manufacturing, shared services, or similarly complex industries is a plus.
  • Bilingual Spanish skills are helpful but not required.
What Success Looks Like
The successful candidate will quickly establish ownership of the AR function, implement scalable processes, improve collections performance, strengthen team accountability, and provide executive leadership with confidence that the AR operation can support continued growth without constant oversight.
