Job Description
This is a remote position for an Experienced Video Remote Interpretation (VRI) English-ASL (American Sign Language) Interpreter based in the United States. The interpreter will be responsible for providing accurate interpretation services virtually via video between English and ASL in medical, social services, customer service, and financial settings. The role involves facilitating seamless communication between service providers and the Deaf/Hard of Hearing community to ensure effective understanding and care.
Contract Responsibilities:
  • Interpretation Delivery: Provides high-quality consecutive interpretation via secure Video Remote Interpretation (VRI) platforms.
  • Policy Adherence: Follows all Kreato Global policies and procedures related to information confidentiality and interpreter ethics.
  • Compliance: Maintains strict patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA, FERPA, GLBA, and/or regulatory requirements, policies, and standards.
  • Professionalism: Establishes and maintains quality service and positive interactions with all patients, customers, health care providers, and clinical employees during remote sessions.
  • Environment Management: Maintains a professional, well-lit, and distraction-free visual background during all video calls.
  • Continuous Improvement: Continuously improves vocabulary, ASL proficiency, and specialized subject matter knowledge.
Requirements:
  • Documentation: Submission of an updated Resume.
  • Age & Education: Must be at least 18 years of age with a High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Location: Must reside in the United States and possess either U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status (Green Card).
  • Technical Setup: * Access to a reliable, high-speed, wired internet connection (Ethernet preferred).
    • A professional computer setup equipped with a high-definition webcam.
    • Appropriate lighting and a solid-colored, professional background.
  • Workspace: A dedicated, quiet, and secure workspace with a locked door to ensure absolute privacy and HIPAA compliance.
  • Clearances: Successful completion of a drug test and Background Check & Security Screen.
  • Commitment: A signed commitment to confidentiality, adherence to ethics, and HIPAA compliance.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 1+ years of interpreting experience (prior VRI experience is a strong plus).
  • Knowledge of Kreato Global's evaluation process conforming to interpreting standards defined by NCIHC, IMIA, and CHIA.
  • National or State ASL Certification (e.g., RID, BEI) is highly preferred.
