Job description

A school district in Mount Prospect, IL, is now looking to hire one to two Sign Language Interpreters for current, full-time openings for the 2026–2027 school year. The district is seeking qualified professionals to provide interpreting services that support student communication and access to instruction. Not only will you be working alongside experienced education professionals, but you will also have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by ensuring students who are deaf or hard of hearing have full access to their educational environment.

Responsibilities:

Provide sign language interpreting services for students who are deaf or hard of hearing throughout the school day.
Facilitate effective communication between students, teachers, staff, and peers.
Support student participation in classroom instruction, school activities, and educational programs.
Collaborate with teachers and other school personnel to ensure students receive appropriate educational support.
Maintain confidentiality and professional standards in accordance with district and state guidelines.

Experience:

Previous experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in a school or educational setting is preferred.

Education:

Appropriate Sign Language Interpreter certification/licensure required in accordance with Illinois state and district requirements.

Employment Type: Full-time, Contract

Contract Dates: August 19, 2026 – June 1–4, 2027 (end date will depend on assigned school)

Openings: 1–2 Positions Available

Pay: 35+/hr
