Job Summary

As a Senior Software Engineer at Prove, you will play a critical role in building, maintaining, and scaling the technology that powers the next generation of identity verification. Whether working on consumer and business identity services or developing low-level phone intelligence data signals, you will design and implement robust, high-performance solutions. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve complex technical challenges, improve system architecture, and contribute to the mission-critical infrastructure that helps institutions solve fraud and verify digital identity worldwide.

Team Focus Areas

We are currently hiring for two engineering teams, each solving unique challenges in the identity space:

  • Data Engineering Team: Join our team to design and build the fault-tolerant, scalable platforms powering our core identity services (Verified Users, Prefill, and KYB/KYC). You'll work hands-on with senior engineers and product leaders to tackle complex, high-scale architectural challenges and directly influence our identity verification roadmap.
  • Phone Number Intelligence: Our team focuses on phone intelligence and generating low-level data signals used by various internal services. This work is foundational to our fraud detection capabilities, providing specialized knowledge of mobile carrier data and fraud patterns. We are currently migrating data and migrating to an event-driven architecture, offering an exciting opportunity for someone to shape our infrastructure.
Responsibilities
  • Engineering Excellence: Write high-quality, maintainable code, develop detailed technical documentation, and champion strong engineering principles within the team.
  • System Development: Design and develop microservices within a cloud-native, distributed architecture.
  • Problem Solving: Analyze, debug, and resolve production issues. Proactively engage in technical design discussions, including writing and reviewing RFCs for new solutions.
  • Technical Leadership: Mentor team members, participate in code reviews, and drive technical decisions. Own end-to-end features-from initial design and RFC creation to implementation and maintenance.
  • Collaborative development: Participate in the "Owner/Helper" project model; contribute as a lead owner for major milestones and actively support team members on their own initiatives.
Your First Three Months

30 Days (Onboarding): Gain a high-level understanding of our architecture, team goals, and existing services. Make your first code contributions by resolving bugs or tackling small tasks within the codebase.

60 Days (Contribution): Integrate into the design process by reviewing RFCs and providing technical feedback. Contribute significantly as an active team member to one of our milestones.

90 Days (Ownership): Develop a deep grasp of our product and migration strategies. Take ownership of a minor or major milestone, or lead the drafting of an RFC for a new initiative.

Qualifications
  • Software Development: 6+ years of professional software development experience, with a deep understanding of object-oriented programming (Java highly preferred).
  • System Design: Experience designing event-driven, robust, and scalable solutions for complex technical problems.
  • Cloud Proficiency: Hands-on experience with public cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
  • Data & Database Expertise: Proficiency in SQL (Oracle) and NoSQL (DynamoDB) with strong knowledge of design principles for both.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Full-Stack Development: Experience with TypeScript and React.
  • CI/CD & Testing: Ability to build automated test frameworks and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Streaming Technologies: Practical experience with Kafka and Flink.
  • Modern Tech: Familiarity with AI and machine learning integrations.
  • Technical Leadership: Proven ability to influence team direction and long-term architectural decisions.
