Lancium is seeking a Director of Engineering to lead the design, execution, and lifecycle management of large-scale electrical infrastructure supporting hyperscale data center campuses and grid-integrated energy systems. This role is critical to ensuring the delivery of highly reliable, scalable, and compliant power systems aligned with mission-critical data center requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead multi-disciplinary engineering teams across Substation Design, Protection & Control (P&C), Power System Studies, Data Center Integration, and Commissioning
  • Establish and drive engineering strategy, standards, and governance in alignment with SVP Engineering objectives
  • Oversee the design and execution of HV/MV/LV systems, transmission interconnections, and grid integration
  • Ensure robust Protection & Control systems, including relay coordination, system selectivity, and SCADA integration
  • Align infrastructure design with data center requirements, including N+1 and 2N redundancy, uptime, and scalability
  • Manage engineering execution to meet schedule, budget, and quality objectives
  • Ensure compliance with applicable standards and regulations (ERCOT/ISO, IEEE, NERC, NEC)
  • Support interconnection studies, including load flow, short circuit, and stability analysis
  • Coordinate with EPC contractors, OEMs, utilities, and clients to ensure successful project delivery
  • Drive risk mitigation, system reliability, and operational readiness
  • Mentor, develop, and grow high-performing engineering teams

Requirements
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (Master's preferred)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required
  • 15+ years of experience in power systems engineering
  • 5+ years of leadership experience managing engineering teams
  • Proven experience with substations, data centers, grid interconnection, and energy systems
Additional Qualifications
  • Deep expertise in HV/MV/LV systems and substation design
  • Strong knowledge of Protection & Control systems
  • Experience with data center electrical architecture and reliability models
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills
