What is the opportunity?

As aStaff Engineer, you will play a key role indesigning and building large-scale distributed systems and platform servicesthat power our core platform. This role goes beyond feature development-you willown system design, performance, scalability, and operational excellenceof critical services. You will work onhigh-throughput, low-latency systems, solving complex problems indata processing, service orchestration, and reliability engineering, while influencing architectural direction and engineering best practices across teams.
What will you do?

  • Design and implement scalable, high-performance backend systemsusing Go, with a strong focus on reliability, observability, and efficiency.
  • Own end-to-end architecture and system design, including service decomposition, data modeling, API design, and inter-service communication patterns.
  • Drive performance optimization initiativesacross services (CPU, memory, I/O, network), and identify bottlenecks using profiling and observability tools.
  • Troubleshoot complex production issues, including distributed system failures, latency spikes, and resource contention across multi-service environments.
  • Build and operate systems leveragingKafka, PostgreSQL, OpenSearch, and caching layers (Redis/Valkey)for high-scale workloads.
  • Design and operate services incontainerized environments (Docker) orchestrated via Kubernetes or HashiStack (Nomad/Consul/Vault).
  • Collaborate with Product, SRE, and Security teams to ensureresilient, secure, and production-ready solutions.
  • Contribute to and driveengineering excellencethrough design reviews, code reviews, and mentoring junior engineers.
  • Participate infull software lifecycle ownership: requirements, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and production support.
  • ChampionDevOps and "You build it, you run it" culture, including CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, alerting, and incident response.

  • Strong programming expertise inGo, with deep understanding of concurrency, memory management, and performance tuning.
  • Extensive experience buildingdistributed systems and microservices architecturesat scale.
  • Strong understanding ofsystem design principles, including scalability, fault tolerance, consistency models, and trade-offs.
  • Deep knowledge ofLinux systems, including processes, networking stack, file systems, and performance diagnostics.
  • Hands-on experience withcontainerization (Docker)and orchestration usingKubernetesorHashiStack(Nomad, Consul, Vault).
  • Strong experience withevent-driven and data-intensive systemsusingApache Kafka.
  • Experience withdatabases and storage systems, includingPostgreSQL,OpenSearch, and caching systems likeRedis.
  • Solid experience withcloud platforms, preferablyAmazon Web Services, including managed services (MSK, Aurora, OpenSearch).
  • Proven ability toanalyze and optimize system performance, including profiling, benchmarking, and capacity planning.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills acrossapplication, infrastructure, and network layers.
  • Experience building and maintainingCI/CD pipelines and DevOps workflows.
  • 8-12+ yearsof software engineering experience with a strong focus on backend systems and distributed architectures

Compensation: The typical base salary for this role is betweenUSD $164,512- $274,187per year and it may be eligible for participation in a corporate bonus program. Actual compensation offer may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, skill level, or other relevant factors.
