Position Overview

Open Sky Healing Counseling is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) who is bilingual in Spanish or Portuguese to join our team. This full-time position offers the flexibility of remote work while requiring in-office collaboration as needed. The successful candidate will be instrumental in providing intensive therapeutic services to children and families navigating the complexities of developmental disabilities and intellectual challenges.

Work Environment

This position allows for a dynamic work setting that combines remote therapeutic services with the opportunity to engage directly with clients in an outpatient office environment. Therapists will work closely with our Child Family Treatment Team to ensure holistic and integrative care for our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct in-home individual therapy sessions or group therapy sessions at our outpatient center, focusing on tailored therapeutic methods.
  • Utilize evidence-based practices to provide anger management, coping strategies, and social skills training that address high-risk behaviors such as self-injurious behavior (SIB) and physical aggression.
  • Assist in improving decision-making skills for youth and their caretakers, helping them effectively manage in-home behavioral challenges.
  • Engage in regular collaboration with multidisciplinary professionals, fostering a coordinated approach to treatment aimed at supporting both the youth and their families.
  • Maintain meticulous documentation, including comprehensive intake assessments, treatment plans, and ongoing progress notes, ensuring all documentation meets specified deadlines.
  • Participate actively in monthly team meetings, offering insights and recommendations for client-focused improvements.
Patient Population / Client Focus

This role primarily focuses on providing support to a diverse population of children aged 3-20 who experience developmental and intellectual disabilities. By addressing the unique needs of each child and their family, you will play a key role in fostering resilience and enhanced quality of life for these families.

Qualifications
  • A Master's degree in Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a closely related field is required.
  • An active and unrestricted LMFT license in the state of Florida is mandatory.
  • Availability to work a minimum of 5-10 hours per week during after-school hours (from 4 PM to 7 PM), with flexibility on weekends considered advantageous.
  • A valid driverโ€™s license and access to a registered vehicle to travel to client locations for in-home therapy sessions.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check, including fingerprinting, is required to ensure the safety of our clients.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience providing positive behavior support strategies.
  • Prior work experience with children and adolescents, particularly those with intellectual and developmental disabilities, is highly desired.
