The Peer Support Behavioral Center is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) to provide high-quality mental health counseling remotely. In this full-time telehealth role, you will play a crucial part in the emotional, physical, and mental growth of your patients through tailored therapeutic interventions and positive role modeling. The LPC will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, ensuring all clients receive the best possible care in line with Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) guidelines.

The Peer Support Behavioral Center has expanded its services to meet the diverse needs of our community, operating as a multifaceted clinic that encompasses obstetrics, pediatrics, general medicine, family planning, and dentistry. Our qualified staff is committed to providing education, intervention, and management of complex social issues impacting our clients. We prioritize confidentiality and accept Medicaid, Medicare, and most private health insurance, making our services accessible to a wide range of patients.

This is a fully remote position, allowing you to work from the comfort of your home while effectively engaging with clients through telehealth platforms. Our telehealth work facility ensures you will have the tools and support needed to deliver exceptional care, utilizing innovative technology to foster real-time connections with patients. Flexibility in scheduling accommodates both full-time and part-time positions, primarily based on appointment availability.

• Assist primary care providers by assessing, treating, and managing mental health and psychosocial issues, ensuring comprehensive care for patients.
• Conduct initial patient intakes by performing diagnostic and functional evaluations, followed by making informed treatment plan recommendations to the primary care team.
• Provide brief, focused interventions, addressing immediate mental health needs and supporting patients in embarking on their treatment journey.
• Evaluate and recommend whether patients should remain within the primary care setting or be referred to specialty mental health services.
• Initiate follow-up measures to monitor patient progress and adapt treatment plans as necessary to promote optimal outcomes.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to develop relapse prevention strategies, encouraging patients to maintain stability in their functioning and well-being.
• Identify patients at risk of deterioration and devise strategic plans to mitigate potential mental and physical health issues.
• Document treatment progress and diagnostic information accurately in patient records, adhering to organizational and legal standards.
• Educate patients on self-management skills, equipping them with tools to actively participate in their recovery process.
• Engage in ongoing consultation with clinic management and fellow team members to discuss behavioral health programming and contribute to program evaluation and improvement.
• Facilitate compliance with medical treatments initiated by primary care providers, offering support for medication side effects and treatment adherence.
• Uphold the Code of Ethical Conduct for Clinical Professionals while performing daily duties.
• Perform other related tasks as assigned to enhance the overall effectiveness of the team.

The LPC will work with a diverse client population across various age groups and backgrounds, addressing a wide range of mental health concerns. This includes individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, stress, trauma, and other behavioral health challenges. The role demands a sensitivity to the cultural contexts of our clients in Laredo, Texas, allowing for personalized care that respects their unique circumstances.

• A Master’s Degree in Clinical Counseling or a related mental health field is required.
• Current and valid LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor) license is mandatory to practice in Texas.
• Strong grasp of mental health assessments, treatment planning, and a variety of psychotherapeutic modalities.
• Proficiency in both English and Spanish is preferred to address the needs of our bilingual community.
• Must possess the mental and physical health necessary to manage a demanding caseload.
• Experience with community resources is essential, aiding in patient referrals and appropriate service connections.
• Comprehensive knowledge of developmental psychopathology and behavioral therapy techniques is critical for success in this role.

• Experience working in a primary care or behavioral health setting, particularly in a telehealth capacity, is beneficial.
• Background in crisis intervention and management of acute behavioral health situations is advantageous.
• Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems to properly document patient interactions and treatment plans.

We offer a competitive salary range of USD 87,000 to 105,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
