Job description

Role:

M2X Energy is seeking an IT Specialist to be responsible for supporting and maintaining technology infrastructure across M2X Energy's corporate, manufacturing, and remote deployment locations. This role ensures the performance, security, and reliability of IT systems while providing hands-on support for employees and operational teams. The IT Specialist will install and maintain hardware and software, administer cloud and on-premises environments, troubleshoot technical issues, and support cybersecurity initiatives. This role works cross-functionally with Operations, Engineering, and Leadership to ensure scalable technology solutions that support business growth and field operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide onsite and remote IT support across all company facilities, ensuring technology systems remain reliable, secure, and operational.
  • Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot hardware, software, networking equipment, and end-user devices.
  • Set up computers, software, user accounts, and system access for new employees.
  • Administer Microsoft 365, Azure, Exchange Online, SharePoint, and hybrid cloud environments.
  • Monitor, manage, and troubleshoot remote manufacturing assets, automation interfaces, and operational technology systems.
  • Support cybersecurity initiatives including endpoint protection, vulnerability management, ransomware prevention, user training, and incident response.
  • Coordinate software deployments, upgrades, patches, and system migrations while minimizing downtime.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, and facility teams to support production systems, building automation systems, and technology infrastructure.
  • Develop and maintain IT documentation, procedures, system configurations, and troubleshooting resources.
  • Train employees on technology tools, cybersecurity awareness, and IT best practices.
  • Ensure IT systems comply with organizational policies, security standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Implement and maintain backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity processes to protect critical business systems and data.
  • Assist with technology planning, infrastructure improvements, and scaling initiatives as the company grows.

The Ideal Candidate Is:

  • A Problem Solver: You enjoy troubleshooting complex technical challenges and take pride in finding practical, lasting solutions. Whether supporting end users, resolving infrastructure issues, or diagnosing connectivity problems, you approach issues methodically and with a customer-first mindset.
  • A Builder: You don't just maintain systems—you improve them. You proactively identify opportunities to strengthen processes, enhance security, streamline support, and implement scalable technology solutions that support a growing organization.
  • A Trusted Partner: You build strong relationships across the business and communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. You are equally comfortable helping a new employee set up their laptop as you are collaborating with Engineering and Operations teams on critical infrastructure projects.
  • A Technology Generalist: You have a broad IT foundation spanning end-user support, systems administration, networking, cloud technologies, cybersecurity, and business applications. You're comfortable wearing multiple hats and adapting to changing priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Adaptable & Mission-Driven: You thrive in a fast-paced startup environment where priorities evolve, resources are limited, and collaboration is essential. You are energized by supporting innovative technology that contributes to meaningful environmental and operational impact.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 3+ years of experience supporting enterprise IT environments, including cloud and hybrid infrastructure.
  • Experience supporting multi-site organizations and remote users.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365, Azure, Exchange Online, SharePoint, networking, and endpoint management.
  • Experience troubleshooting hardware, software, networking, and system administration issues.
  • Working knowledge of cybersecurity best practices, access controls, backup systems, and disaster recovery planning.
  • Strong documentation, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to support both technical and non-technical users.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
  • Availability for occasional after-hours support and travel to company facilities as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CompTIA Network+, Security+, Microsoft Azure, AWS, or similar certifications.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing, industrial, energy, or operational technology environments.
  • Familiarity with building automation systems, industrial control systems, or remote monitoring platforms.
  • Experience implementing or supporting ERP systems such as Oracle NetSuite, SAP, Infor, SyteLine, or Autodesk platforms.
  • Knowledge of IT compliance frameworks including PCI-DSS, GLBA, and CMMC.
  • Experience with network design, infrastructure optimization, and cybersecurity program development.
  • Experience supporting technology risk assessments, security incident response, and remediation efforts.
  • Ability to collaborate across departments to evaluate and implement technology solutions that support business growth.
