Posted 4 days ago

Job description

Company: The Hellan Strainer Company

Position: Regional Sales Manager, Western U.S.

Location: Western U.S., Remote, with travel

Reports To: Vice President of Sales & Marketing

Company Description

The Hellan Strainer Company is a leading manufacturer of industrial fluid filtration and straining equipment serving customers across the power generation, data center, water and wastewater, industrial, marine, and defense markets.

Hellan manufactures both manual and automatic self-cleaning strainers designed for demanding applications where reliability, performance, and long service life are critical. We work closely with end users, engineering firms, EPCs, OEMs, distributors, and representatives to provide both standard and engineered solutions for complex fluid-handling applications.

As our business continues to grow, we are adding a Regional Sales Manager to expand our coverage in the Western United States.

Role Description

This is a full-time, remote position responsible for managing and growing an established sales territory in the Western U.S.

The Regional Sales Manager will inherit a portion of an existing territory and customer base while also being responsible for developing new accounts and opportunities throughout the region. The primary market focus will be Power Generation, Data Centers, and Water/Wastewater, along with other industrial applications where Hellan products provide a strong fit.

This position requires someone who is comfortable developing relationships at multiple levels, including end users, EPCs, consulting engineers, OEMs, distributors, and independent sales representatives.

The successful candidate will be a self-starter who enjoys being in front of customers, understands technical and engineered-product sales, and can balance account development with the discipline required to manage a sales territory, pipeline, CRM, forecasts, and annual sales plans.

Travel throughout the territory will be an important part of the position.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute a sales plan for the assigned Western U.S. territory with a focus on increasing bookings, revenue, market share, and account penetration.
  • Manage and grow an established base of customers and opportunities while actively developing new business.
  • Focus business development efforts within the Power Generation, Data Center, and Water/Wastewater markets, along with other targeted industrial applications.
  • Develop relationships with end users, EPCs, consulting engineers, OEMs, distributors, contractors, and other key decision-makers.
  • Identify major projects early in the engineering and specification process and work to position Hellan products as the preferred solution.
  • Develop and maintain strategic account plans for key customers and target accounts within the territory.
  • Travel regularly throughout the assigned territory for customer meetings, project development, training, industry events, and representative/distributor support.
  • Develop a strong understanding of Hellan's product line, applications, competitive advantages, and engineered solutions.
  • Work closely with inside sales, engineering, operations, and management to develop proposals and support customer requirements.
  • Manage and support independent sales representatives and channel partners within the territory.
  • Conduct product and application training for customers, engineering firms, representatives, and channel partners.
  • Maintain an active pipeline of opportunities and provide accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual sales forecasts.
  • Maintain accurate and timely CRM records, including accounts, contacts, opportunities, quotations, projects, activities, and follow-up actions.
  • Monitor competitive activity, market trends, major capital projects, and emerging opportunities within the territory.
  • Participate in monthly and quarterly sales reviews and clearly communicate territory performance, pipeline activity, key opportunities, challenges, and action plans.
  • Collaborate with sales leadership on pricing strategies, major opportunities, key account development, and other growth initiatives.
  • Represent Hellan at industry trade shows, customer events, and other relevant market activities.
Qualifications
  • Previous outside sales, regional sales, business development, or account management experience in industrial or engineered products.
  • Experience selling into Power Generation, Data Centers, Water/Wastewater, HVAC, mechanical systems, fluid handling, pumps, valves, filtration, or related industrial markets is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with EPCs, consulting engineers, OEMs, end users, distributors, or industrial sales representatives is preferred.
  • Technical aptitude and the ability to understand engineered products, specifications, drawings, and customer applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop new accounts and expand business within existing customers.
  • Strong understanding of territory management, account planning, opportunity development, forecasting, and pipeline management.
  • Comfortable working within a structured CRM and maintaining accurate and current opportunity information.
  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to develop relationships with engineering, procurement, operations, and executive-level contacts.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to operate independently in a remote environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM platforms.
  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly throughout the Western U.S.
Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who combines technical sales ability with a strong business-development mindset. The right candidate will be comfortable walking into an established account and finding ways to expand the relationship, while also having the energy and persistence to identify and develop entirely new customers and projects.

This is not simply an account-maintenance position. We are looking for someone who wants to build a territory, develop relationships, find opportunities early, and become a trusted resource for customers and engineering partners throughout the region.

The position offers the opportunity to take over an established portion of our Western U.S. business while helping us expand our presence in several of our fastest-growing markets, particularly Power Generation, Data Centers, and Water/Wastewater.
