Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine is recruiting for Senior Manager, R&D Data, Data Science, and AI - Digital Health for Neuropsychiatry to be located at one of our sites inCambridge, MA, Raritan, NJ, Titusville, NJ, Spring House, PA, or San Diego, CA (La Jolla area).


This Senior Manager will join the Neuroscience Data, Data Science, and AI (DDSAI) team to advance digital health innovation for neuropsychiatry and accelerate development of novel treatments. The role combines hands-on data science leadership in partnership with the Neuroscience clinical and regulatory teams, as well as collaboration with academic, technology, and pre-competitive partners. The leader will help develop, validate, and operationalize digital tools, novel endpoints, patient stratification approaches, and evidence strategies for mood, psychotic, cognitive, and related neuropsychiatric disorders.


Key Responsibilities

  • Digital Health Strategy: Partner with cross-functional teams to define a neuropsychiatric digital health roadmap that integrates AI/ML (e.g., foundation models), data science, and company priorities across the patient journey, ensuring clinical relevance and patient-centered outcomes.
  • Digital Health Landscape: Monitor emerging technologies in neuropsychiatry, digital phenotyping, remote assessment, passive sensing, and speech and language analytics to bring forward next-generation solutions for neuropsychiatry R&D.
  • Digital Endpoints & Tools: Execute the neuropsychiatry-focused digital health strategy by applying AI/ML, modeling, and longitudinal analytics to support patient stratification, endpoint development, and clinical trial optimization, in partnership with disease experts, statisticians, and platforms and clinical teams on study design and validation of digital measures, balancing their informativeness with low clinical burden for patients and study teams.
  • Advanced Statistical Modeling: Develop and apply sophisticated statistical/ML/AI models using digital health data to generate insights into disease and treatment outcomes. Leverage longitudinal disease modeling, Bayesian methods, and causal inference techniques to inform decision-making.
  • Multimodal Integration: Develop multimodal approaches combining digital health data with imaging, blood-based biomarkers, omics, and real-world data to provide a more holistic picture of patients suffering from neuropsychiatric disease.
  • Evidence Generation: Contribute to evidence packages to support regulatory qualification of digital endpoints and tools.
  • Regulatory: Ensure validation and compliance with evolving global regulatory and data privacy standards.
  • Internal Leadership: Collaborate with clinical operations to integrate digital health technologies into trial design, working cross-functionally to optimize data capture, integration, and interoperability of digital solutions.
  • External Leadership: Partner with regulatory and medical affairs to build external collaborations with academic groups, technology partners, regulators, health authorities, and payers to advance digital health standards and novel endpoints.


Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (PhD, MD, or equivalent) in neuroscience, psychology, psychiatry, cognitive neuroscience, biomedical engineering, data science, biostatistics, or a related quantitative or clinical field.
  • 6+ years of experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, or healthcare analytics.
  • Experience in clinical development, digital health technologies, outcome assessments, biomarkers, or patient stratification approaches in clinical research, with demonstrated expertise in neuropsychiatry (preferred).
  • Experience with biostatistics, machine learning, digital health data such as speech, language, behavior, sensor, and/or neuroimaging data, multimodal digital data integration, and longitudinal analysis.
  • Track record developing and validating digital health tools, endpoints, or biomarkers.
  • Familiarity with data standards, privacy regulations, and regulatory pathways for digital measures; experience supporting regulatory submissions (strong plus).
  • Experience integrating digital solutions into patient recruitment, screening, and clinical trial operations.
  • Excellent cross-functional leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Track record of scientific contributions, including presentations and publications.


This position will be located on site at one of our offices in either Cambridge MA, Titusville NJ, Raritan NJ, Spring House PA, or San Diego, CA (No fully remote option available). Occasional travel for crossfunctional workshops, and team meetings may be required.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is $137,000 to $235,750. The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation's performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company's discretion on an individual basis. Employees and/or eligible dependents may be eligible to participate in the following Company sponsored employee benefit programs: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, business accident insurance, and group legal insurance.
