Tech Lead – Data Platform | Remote

A fast-growing financial technology company is seeking a Tech Lead, Data Platform to design and build the core data infrastructure that powers advanced financial analytics and reporting. This platform enables executives, investors, analysts, and internal stakeholders to make critical business and investment decisions based on trusted, high-quality data.

As a technical leader, you will define the architecture of the data platform, partner with Product and Engineering leadership, and lead the implementation of scalable, cloud-native data solutions. You'll work closely with software engineers, data scientists, quantitative analysts, and business stakeholders to build highly reliable systems focused on performance, transparency, observability, and data integrity.

Responsibilities

  • Design and architect scalable data platform solutions using AWS and modern open-source data technologies.
  • Develop and maintain robust ETL/ELT pipelines using Python, Airflow, DBT, and Airbyte.
  • Build high-performance analytics and data processing services, including applications developed in Rust (or willingness to learn Rust).
  • Design solutions to ingest, transform, and manage large volumes of structured and unstructured financial data.
  • Implement best practices around data governance, data quality, data lineage, access controls, auditing, and observability.
  • Partner with Product Management to define technical requirements and implementation strategies.
  • Lead architectural discussions and mentor engineers across the organization.
  • Drive engineering best practices related to testing, deployment, monitoring, and software quality.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience with strong computer science fundamentals.
  • Strong programming experience with Python.
  • Experience building cloud-native applications on AWS.
  • Hands-on experience with Airflow, DBT, Airbyte, and Pandas.
  • Experience designing scalable distributed data platforms and modern ETL/ELT architectures.
  • Strong understanding of data modeling, data governance, and analytics infrastructure.
  • Experience delivering production software from design through deployment in a fast-paced engineering environment.
  • Excellent system design, communication, and technical leadership skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Rust, or a strong interest in learning it.
  • Background in financial services, fintech, investment platforms, or quantitative analytics.
  • Experience working with large-scale financial datasets.
  • Prior experience leading engineering initiatives or mentoring development teams.

This is an excellent opportunity for a senior engineer who enjoys solving complex data engineering challenges, influencing technical strategy, and building mission-critical platforms that power modern financial analytics.
