Strong problem-solving abilities, clear communication, and self-motivation are essential soft skills for remote collaboration and troubleshooting. These competencies ensure reliable, scalable data systems and effective teamwork across distributed environments.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals working in remote data infrastructure roles?

Professionals in remote data infrastructure roles often encounter challenges such as ensuring seamless communication across distributed teams, maintaining high availability and performance of data systems, and managing security risks associated with remote access. Coordinating with colleagues across different time zones can require flexibility in scheduling and proactive communication. Additionally, remote data infrastructure engineers must stay up-to-date with evolving cloud technologies and best practices to effectively support scalable, reliable, and secure data architectures.

What is remote data infrastructure?

Remote data infrastructure refers to the systems, tools, and processes that enable organizations to collect, store, manage, and analyze data from remote locations, often via cloud-based platforms. This infrastructure allows teams to access and work with data securely from anywhere, supporting distributed work environments and scalable data solutions. It typically involves cloud storage, data pipelines, databases, and security protocols tailored for remote accessibility. Job description

Overview

Position Overview:

HealthEdge offers AI-powered operational infrastructure for health insurance companies, guaranteeing an enduring financial edge in an increasingly competitive market. We're experiencing strong market momentum, with a growing number of health plans choosing HealthEdge to modernize their operations and compete more effectively. As we expand, we're investing in the people who power that growth, making this a pivotal moment to join us and shape the future of healthcare technology. Learn more at HealthEdge.com.

Our Sales Operations Team plays a crucial role in driving our business forward, and we are seeking an analytically-minded Commercial Operations Analyst to lead reporting and data work for our sales organization. This role is primarily focused (roughly 75% of the time) on building and maintaining the dashboards, reports, and forecasting models the Sales and Sales Operations teams relies on, with the remaining time supporting broader sales operations projects as capacity allows. The ideal candidate has strong Excel skills and experience with a BI tool (Power BI preferred; others also welcome) - but what matters most is an analytical mindset and genuine curiosity. You don't need prior experience working with a sales team, but you do need to be willing and able to engage directly with sales, finance, and other stakeholders to gather requirements and translate their needs into clear reporting.

Your impact:

Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Own the design, build, and maintenance of sales dashboards, reports, and forecasting models and tools that support sales planning and track performance and effectiveness.
  • Gather and translate reporting requirements from sales, finance, and other stakeholders into clear analytical specifications and deliverables.
  • Analyze sales data and performance metrics to develop data-driven insights and recommendations.
  • Conduct complex ad-hoc analyses on pipeline velocity, conversion rates, and historical trends, and present findings in a way that's clear to non-technical audiences.
  • Maintain data integrity and documentation across reporting tools as our data architecture evolves (including our ongoing data warehouse and Power BI implementation).
  • Help evaluate and pilot new reporting and AI-assisted analytics tools as our data infrastructure evolves.

Sales Support and Enablement (backup capacity, ~25%)

  • As capacity allows, support sales operations projects and provide backup coverage for sales team requests alongside the Commercial Operations Analyst.
  • Support the administration and optimization of the CRM system (Salesforce); ensure data integrity relevant to reporting. (Salesforce familiarity is a plus, but not required.)

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Facilitate conversations with a cross-functional team of business and technical SMEs to identify and refine business requirements and translate them into reporting/analytics solutions.
  • Collaborate with sales, finance, and other cross-functional teams to optimize reporting processes and workflows, particularly through the ongoing data warehouse integration work.

What you bring:

  • 1-3 years of experience in an analytics, reporting, BI, FP&A, or similar data-focused role; direct sales or sales operations experience is not required.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, Power Query, complex formulas).
  • Experience with at least one BI/visualization tool - Power BI preferred, other tools such as Tableau are also welcome. We value tool-agnostic analytical thinking over depth in any one platform.
  • Demonstrated experience or aptitude gathering requirements from business stakeholders and translating them into reporting deliverables.
  • A genuinely analytical, curious mindset - comfortable navigating ambiguous data problems and proactively learning new tools and techniques.
  • Willingness and ability to engage directly with sales stakeholders.
  • Curiosity about applying AI and automation to reporting workflows (e.g., accelerating data cleaning, exploratory analysis, or dashboard build-out) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce or another CRM is a plus but not required.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Experience in or exposure to the healthcare industry a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Data Analytics, or related field preferred.
