Job description

About Scene Health
Scene is reimagining medication adherence with our 360° model of care, bringing the gold standard of Directly Observed Therapy into the digital age. Through personalized video coaching, engaging education, and motivational support, we connect healthcare professionals, patients, and their families to solve the $500B problem of medication nonadherence.
Through our mobile app, patients connect with pharmacists, nurses, and health coaches through quick daily video check-ins, anytime, anywhere. We make medication management engaging and supportive while helping patients overcome challenges and barriers related to social determinants of health.
Job Overview
Scene Health is on a mission to solve medication non-adherence. We're a diverse team of designers, technologists, researchers, and public health enthusiasts committed to building high-impact technology that helps patients get better faster.
Scene provides a platform of mobile and web-based applications used in the US and abroad, which means a wide variety of work day-to-day. Our team is constantly taking on challenging and exciting problems, with the goal of making a serious impact on the lives of patients. We work with world-renowned clinicians and scientists to help patients facing significant health challenges. Our solution is offered to patients with infectious and chronic diseases such as tuberculosis, HIV, hepatitis C, opioid addiction/substance abuse, diabetes, asthma, and mental health. We partner with academic medical centers and adherence experts across the country to develop and validate our tech-enabled solution.
We are looking for a passionate and motivated Patient Engagement Specialist for Research and Clinical Trials, who will deliver Scene's digital adherence monitoring programs for academic and commercial research partners reporting to the Associate Program Manager. You will help study participants take their first critical steps toward better health. Scene serves patients virtually with chronic and behavioral health conditions. Our clinical pilot and trial management customers and their participants value meaningful support and engagement that is delivered routinely and rapidly.
In this role, you will be involved in programs to support research studies and clinical trials to deliver asynchronous monitoring of participants' medication adherence to investigational study drugs and novel interventions. The Patient Engagement Specialist's role involves helping research and clinical trial study sites and their patients begin a standardized medication adherence program that will help them track their progress, and establishing a responsive routine of documenting participant medication adherence. Starting and finishing strong in the monitoring program is paramount to study success.
You will also be involved in clinical programs monitoring patients' adherence to prescription medications as a part of routine care. These programs can include populations with substance use disorders, chronic illnesses and mental health conditions. We take an engaging approach to motivate patients toward lasting change for healthy outcomes.
We are a distributed team with collaborations all over the country, so this is a remote position. If you're an empathetic and passionate individual who loves interacting with patients and clients, wants to help others, and cares about impacting the community, we'd love to hear from you!
Responsibilities
  • Completes daily reviews of all patient video submissions when ingesting medications, and responds as appropriate per engagement and escalation protocols, and documents actions taken
  • Updates and maintains a database of patient-level notes daily
  • Conducts data entry, data quality check, and data reconciliation exercises to ensure consistent documentation
  • Conducts technical training with study sites to help patients use Scene Health's mobile application and to resolve technical challenges when using the web platform
  • Prepares written reports and maintains records of program monitoring activities
  • Works collaboratively with a cross-functional team to identify, develop, evaluate, and refine new processes and features of the Scene Health program
  • Provides management with patient feedback and/or recommendations for program and product improvement
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:
  • 3-5 years of related experience
  • High school diploma
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency with database systems and mobile applications
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a healthcare related field or equivalent experience
  • Experience in a healthcare, clinical research, or a digital health setting
  • Familiarity or experience with substance use/abuse and mental health care and programs, especially recovery support services and peer support approaches
  • Directly Observed Therapy, peer counseling, or other community health work experience
  • Open to alternative work schedules

Note: Interested candidates should be prepared to provide references as a part of the interview process.
We are interested in every qualified candidate who is eligible to work in the United States. However, we are not able to sponsor visas at this time.
