Position Summary:

The Sr. Demand Planner is responsible for the total US forecast within their respective customers and focused on sales and marketing forecast assumptions. This role will build relationships with sales and marketing partners to collaborate and align on marketing and commercial intelligence and apply promotional, distribution, cannibalization and competitive forecast impacts to the Demand Consensus forecast.  The individual will gather key input from cross functional partners and challenge assumptions to drive improved forecast accuracy. The Sr Demand Planner represents demand planning and promotes its good practice and strategy with key business stakeholders.  This role serves to support the Manager in preparation and leading all demand meetings in order to support the NA S&OP and subsequently the Global S&OP.  This role will serve as the lead and be accountable in Demand Planning initiatives and training related to the promotional forecasting functions and the improvement of the S&OP process.

This hybrid position can be based out of the following offices: Shelton, St. Louis, Remote

Accountabilities:

Commercial / Marketing Forecasting

  • Own the process to manage and review Sales and Marketing forecast inputs and projections to develop the monthly forecast.
    • Collaborate on input from marketing on consumption trends, seasonality, and competitive activity for forecast impact assumptions.
    • Collaborate on input from sales on promotional forecasts on finish goods and displays, distribution gains and losses, POG changes, and new product launches.
  • Develop and manage event-based data that impacts the forecast including historical data, new product projections, promotion lifts, specific customer/channel trends, etc.
  • Report forecast accuracy and root cause on promotional forecasts and new product introductions and drive actions for improvement to hit accuracy targets

Collaboration with Base Forecaster

  • Own entry of commercial intelligence into jda Demand / Manugistics and collaborate with Base Forecasting team on impacts to statistical forecast
  • Focus on forecast detail for fiscal year. Apply strategic assumptions in 12 months beyond fiscal year to align with company strategy
  • Support Base Forecasting team in analysis of forecasts and forecast error reports to improve forecast accuracy, bias, out of stocks, SLOBs, inventory issues
  • Collaborate with Base Forecasting team: historical impacts, new product set up and forecast, cannibalization assumptions, competitive activity and forecast impact, promo analysis, distribution changes, like item assignments, risks and opportunities, and product allocation in case of capacity constraints

Collaboration with Stakeholders

  • Serve as the single contact between Sales and Marketing and Fulfillment.
  • Participate in all appropriate brand and commercial team meetings and serve as the key liaison for assigned brands between Sales/Marketing and Fulfillment.
  • Validate and challenge and align on Sales and Marketing assumptions
  • Support customer service by providing demand information for CS pro-actively to support delivery to customers.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Marketing on SLOBs inventory goals and liquidation of inventory.
  • Focus and report on forecast gaps to Plan, Risks and Ops to Plan, key drivers and gap closing actions

 

CoE / S&OP

  • Own and Lead Demand Consensus meeting (S&OP) including deck preparation, key drivers for changes through appropriate waterfalls, gaps to plan, risks and ops, action items, demand group alignment. 
  • Ensure consensus with Sales and Marketing and sign-off of demand forecast as output of Demand Consensus meeting and elevation to Regional S&OP meeting for VP sign-off.
  • Support Demand CoE roadmap projects for forecast improvement, delivering required strategic improvements and maintaining aligned demand processes.
  • Lead Demand Planning projects related to promotional and event forecasting and S&OP maturity.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in Demand Planning or Forecasting
  • BA/BS required (Supply Chain, Engineering, Mathematics, Business)
  • Technical aptitude and Forecasting and data software experience required (i.e. jda demand/Manugistics, SAP, PowerBI, Syndicated data/ Nielson etc.)
  • CPG experience a plus
  • Key competencies:  Business Acumen, Strategic Thinking, Influencing Others, Building Relationships
  • Intermediate to advanced skills working in Excel and Powerpoint (Microsoft Office)

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • MBA or MS a plus
  • Professional Certifications a plus (APICS, IBF, SCOR etc.)

The salary range for this position is $84,000-$126,000   Compensation for this position varies based on a range of equal opportunity factors, including but not limited to role scope, level of experience, relevant skills, education and credentials, external and internal benchmarks for equivalent roles and experience, business sector, and geographic location. Compensation decisions are based on the specific facts and circumstances of each case. In addition to base salary, the total rewards package may also include, for eligible roles, bonus, and long-term Incentive.
