The Underwriting Operations Analyst partners with Underwriting leadership to improve operational effectiveness through process optimization, technology implementation, data analysis, and cross-functional collaboration. This role serves as a key resource in identifying opportunities to streamline underwriting workflows, support strategic initiatives, and ensure operational readiness across the underwriting organization. The ideal candidate combines strong analytical skills with an understanding of Property & Casualty insurance operations and enjoys solving complex business problems through process improvement and collaboration.

Location: Remote, with preference given to those residing in WA, OR, ID, MT, WY, AZ, or UT. (Candidates must be able to work during our core Pacific Standard Time business hours and have high-speed internet - an internet speed test is required.)

Hiring Range: $84,600 - $94,900*

Salary Range: $84, 600 - $100,200

Responsibilities
  • Partner with underwriting leaders to identify, evaluate, and implement operational improvements that enhance efficiency, quality, and the underwriter experience.
  • Analyze underwriting workflows and business processes to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for automation.
  • Coordinate implementation of underwriting initiatives, including technology enhancements, vendor solutions, and process improvements.
  • Serve as the operational liaison between Underwriting, Information Technology, Product Management, Compliance, Claims, and other business partners.
  • Gather, document, and validate operational requirements to support successful delivery of business initiatives.
  • Support vendor implementations by coordinating business activities, documenting requirements, facilitating testing, and assisting with rollout activities.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute User Acceptance Testing (UAT), documenting results and ensuring business readiness prior to implementation.
  • Analyze operational data and trends to provide actionable recommendations to underwriting leadership.
  • Monitor project progress, identify operational risks, escalate issues when appropriate, and recommend practical solutions.
  • Promote continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to simplify processes, reduce manual work, and improve consistency across underwriting operations.
Qualifications

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to solve complex operations problems.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables, formulas, and data analysis.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Proven ability to build collaborative relationships across departments.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Insurance, Finance, Operations, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 3+ years of Property & Casualty insurance experience, preferably within Underwriting or Underwriting Operations.
  • Demonstrated experience improving business processes or supporting operations initiatives.
  • Experience preparing reports and presenting findings to business leaders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting underwriting technology implementations or operational transformation initiatives.
  • Experience with underwriting workbench, workflow automation, business rule configuration, or policy administration platforms.
  • Experience coordinating User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
  • Experience developing business process documentation, workflows, or training materials.
  • Experience with reporting and visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
  • Familiarity with SQL or other data query tools.
  • Knowledge of Agile, Lean, or continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience working with third-party underwriting vendors and technology partners.
