Job description

Job Title: Performance/Data Analyst III (Key Personnel)

Employment Type: Full-Time with Benefits

Work Authorization: Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. U.S. Citizenship required (by birth or naturalization) due to federal security clearance and background investigation requirements.

Work Mode: Onsite at DOJ facilities in the Washington, DC area (JMD/OCIO or National Coordination Center). Classified work must be performed at U.S. Government facilities.

Security Clearance & Compliance Requirements: Active Secret clearance required at a minimum. Top Secret / SCI eligibility may be required for select positions. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of DOJ background investigation and favorable adjudication determination.

Position Overview:

The Performance/Data Analyst III supports the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Justice Management Division (JMD), Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO), in delivering advanced analytics, Management Information System (MIS) support, and performance reporting services for the Homeland Security Task Force (HSTF).

This role focuses on integrating, analyzing, and visualizing investigative and operational data from multiple federal agencies to support investigative targeting, operational decision-making, resource allocation, and executive reporting requirements. The analyst will develop predictive models, dashboards, statistical reports, and analytical products used by DOJ leadership, Congress, and interagency stakeholders.

The position operates within a federal law enforcement and intelligence-support environment requiring strong analytical, technical, and communication capabilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Collect, validate, process, integrate, and analyze investigative and performance data from HSTF-designated cases.
  • Acquire, clean, and merge datasets from DOJ MIS, FBI, DEA, HSI, ATF, IRS-CI, USAO, and other partner agency systems.
  • Develop and maintain Extract-Transform-Load (ETL) pipelines to support automated ingestion and transformation of interagency datasets.
  • Build predictive analytics and machine learning models to support investigative prioritization and operational decision-making.
  • Conduct network analysis to identify high-value targets, facilitators, and financial relationships within criminal enterprises.
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance Tableau dashboards and data visualization products for executive and operational audiences.
  • Produce statistical summaries, trend analyses, and performance reports related to investigative outcomes, seizures, forfeitures, and operational metrics.
  • Prepare quarterly performance reports and ad-hoc analytical summaries for DOJ leadership, Congress, and partner agencies.
  • Conduct MIS data quality audits and develop dashboards identifying data anomalies and remediation recommendations.
  • Document database schema, transformation logic, business rules, and data governance procedures.
  • Support operational briefings and provide clear analytical summaries from complex datasets.
  • Coordinate transition-in and transition-out activities involving systems, documentation, licenses, and institutional knowledge transfer.
  • Submit monthly status reports summarizing activities, accomplishments, risks, and recommended solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with DOJ data governance, privacy, security, and information handling requirements.

Experience Required:

  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in applied data science, analytics, business intelligence, or related analytical roles.
  • Experience working with large datasets, investigative data, law enforcement systems, or statistical reporting environments.
  • Experience using Python, R, SQL, Excel, Tableau, or equivalent analytical and visualization tools.
  • Experience constructing queries and performing data extraction, transformation, and analysis activities.
  • Experience developing ETL pipelines and integrating data from multiple source systems.
  • Experience creating dashboards, reports, statistical summaries, and trend analysis products for operational or executive audiences.
  • Experience supporting federal law enforcement, investigative, intelligence, or interagency operational environments preferred.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with DOJ Management Information Systems (MIS) and interagency case management environments.
  • Experience supporting DOJ, FBI, DEA, HSI, ATF, IRS-CI, USAO, or other federal investigative organizations.
  • Knowledge of predictive analytics, machine learning, and statistical modeling techniques.
  • Experience conducting network/link analysis involving criminal enterprises, facilitators, or financial flows.
  • Understanding of DOJ data governance, privacy, and information security requirements.
  • Ability to migrate Tableau dashboards to alternate visualization platforms when required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to synthesize complex datasets into actionable intelligence products.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills suitable for executive and interagency reporting environments.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within federal law enforcement and intelligence community teams.

Educational Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Business Analytics, or related quantitative field.
  • Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Analytics, or related field preferred.
