Remote Dark Web Monitoring information

What is remote dark web monitoring?

Remote dark web monitoring is the process of using specialized tools and services to scan and analyze hidden websites, forums, and marketplaces on the dark web to detect compromised data, such as stolen credentials, personal information, or intellectual property. Professionals who perform this work operate from remote locations, providing organizations with alerts about potential threats or data leaks. This proactive approach helps companies mitigate risks by enabling quick responses to security breaches or emerging cyber threats.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote dark web monitoring specialist?

To thrive as a Remote Dark Web Monitoring Specialist, you need a strong background in cybersecurity, threat intelligence, and digital forensics, often supported by a degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with dark web monitoring tools, threat intelligence platforms, and certifications such as CEH (Certified Ethical Hacker) or CISSP are highly valuable. Attention to detail, analytical thinking, and strong communication skills help specialists identify threats and relay findings to stakeholders effectively. These skills and qualities are critical for proactively detecting cyber risks and protecting organizational assets from illicit dark web activities.

What are some common challenges faced in a remote dark web monitoring role, and how can they be managed?

Working in remote dark web monitoring often involves handling large volumes of sensitive data and quickly identifying credible threats amid significant noise. One common challenge is staying updated on constantly evolving cyber threats while maintaining secure and ethical monitoring practices. Collaboration with incident response and IT security teams is crucial to ensure timely communication and coordinated action. Regular training, using up-to-date monitoring tools, and maintaining clear documentation help manage these challenges effectively.

Job description

About the role and team

Engineering at Uber means building for real-world impact under real-world constraints. You'll join a team that builds the platforms and services powering safe, affordable, and reliable movement in over 10,000 cities worldwide. The problems are complex, the systems are massive, and the pace is fast, requiring you to make smart decisions with guidance from seasoned peers. If you think in systems and care about building things that actually work for millions of people, this is where you'll grow.

We're not looking for someone who just follows a manual; we need builders who thrive in ambiguity and own their growth. You'll be part of a high-performance culture marked by perseverance, where your code directly impacts earners, riders, and merchants every day. This is a unique environment where the digital and physical worlds intersect, and every line of code helps move the world forward. You will face shifting priorities and legacy trade-offs, but that is exactly what makes the work meaningful and your impact tangible.

Rate of Pay:                 $153,000 to $169,000 per year
You will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered other types of comp. You will also be eligible for various benefits. More details can be found at the following link https://www.uber.com/careers/benefits.
What you'll do

  • Design, develop, and/or test software applications using the company's technology stack.
  • Apply technical knowledge to evaluate complex data, developments, and projects in order to provide recommendations to resolve technical issues.
  • Support the company's business operations and improve engineering productivity.
  • Build software components that can be integrated into a fully functional software system.
  • Solve production issues in product and system reliability.
    Implement and maintain shared libraries and frameworks used across Uber's web ecosystem (e.g., Base Web, Go-Web runtime, internal React tooling).
  • Help improve and maintain Web CI pipelines.
  • Profile and optimize performance issues in shared components or framework layers.
  • Assist product teams in adopting platform tools by triaging support requests, debugging integration issues, and updating internal documentation.
  • May telecommute.

Basic qualifications

  • Employer will accept a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering (Any), Information Technology, Mathematics, Data Science, Physics, or related field.
  • Position requires:
    • Typescript, C++, Python, Node, or GIT;
    • SQL or MySQL;
    • Data structures and algorithms development and functionality;
    • Designing technology stacks;
    • Debugging and monitoring for production services;
    • Distributed systems;
    • Software Development Lifecycle; and
    • Designing workflow tools.

Ready to Ride?

This isn't the kind of place where you follow a playbook - it's where you help write one. If you're driven by impact, energized by challenge, and ready to shape how the world moves - we'd love to hear from you.

You may be eligible for bonuses, equity, and other compensation, as well as a range of benefits. Explore our benefits.
