Job description

Join the largest delivery-first restaurant group in the United States!
Who we are:
At Salted, we're leading the charge to build the next generation of the restaurant industry. We focus on making better-for-you cuisine accessible while offering clean-label, plant-driven, and most importantly - delicious food. Join us in shaping the future of the restaurant industry and be part of our innovative culinary journey!
The Role:
This is a hands-on role at the intersection of payroll, HR systems, and people operations. You'll own the end-to-end payroll cycle across multiple states and serve as the go-to expert for our HRIS - keeping employee data clean, workflows efficient, and our systems scaling alongside our growth. You'll also play a critical role in keeping our kitchens compliant: tracking business licenses, permits, and renewals across every jurisdiction we operate in. Just as importantly, this role helps make day-to-day people processes easier for managers and employees by reducing friction, answering questions clearly, and improving how work flows through our systems. If you love clean spreadsheets, hate manual work that should be automated, and take pride in making sure people get paid correctly, on time, and with as little friction as possible - this is the role for you. You'll be successful here if you bring both precision and a helpful, solution-focused approach to supporting managers and employees.
Your Impact:
  • Run multi-state payroll on a recurring cycle, ensuring accurate wage calculations, tax withholdings, and compliance across 8+ states (CA, TX, FL, GA, CO, IL, NJ, VA, and more)
  • Own our HRIS - manage employee data, onboarding and offboarding workflows, org structure changes, and ensure data integrity across all integrated systems
  • Maintain compliance across all kitchen locations - track and manage business licenses, health permits, food handler certifications, sales tax registrations, and other recurring regulatory obligations, ensuring nothing lapses
  • Manage payroll tax filings and registrations as we expand into new states
  • Administer benefits enrollment, deductions, and reporting in partnership with HR
  • Build and maintain spreadsheet-based tools and trackers that bring visibility to headcount, payroll costs, and compliance status
  • Reconcile payroll accounts during monthly close, partnering with our accounting team on accruals and adjustments
  • Identify inefficiencies in our current processes and drive improvements - we're growing fast and need someone who can scale our systems with us
  • Respond to employee and manager payroll and HR system questions with care, accuracy, and a solution-focused mindset
  • Reduce friction in day-to-day people processes by improving workflows, clarifying handoffs, and making it easier for managers and employees to get the support they need
Skills & Experience:
  • 2 to 4 years of experience in payroll, HRIS administration, people operations, or a related role
  • Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills, with comfort using formulas and working with large datasets
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail - payroll errors, missed invoices, and lapsed permits have real consequences
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities
  • Strong communicator who can explain payroll and systems topics clearly to non-technical partners
  • Demonstrated ownership and initiative, with an ability to learn quickly, follow through, and improve how work gets done
  • Interest in operational roles where your work directly impacts how the business runs
  • Degree in HR, business, accounting, or a related field

Salary: $75,000 - $95,000
Benefits:
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Medical, Dental, & Vision Insurance
  • 401k with up to a 4% employer match after one year
  • Remote Work
  • Paid Parental Leave
