Job description

Position Overview

Valley Healing Counseling Services is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Mental Health Counselor to join our dynamic team. In this remote, full-time position, you will play a crucial role in supporting individuals struggling with their relationship with alcohol and other mental health challenges. You will leverage your expertise to guide clients towards healing and recovery, using evidence-based practices while enjoying the flexibility of a remote work environment.

About the Organization

At Valley Healing Counseling Services, we are committed to transforming lives through our innovative approach to mental health and substance abuse recovery. Our online platform connects individuals seeking support with a wealth of resources, including anonymous community interactions, therapist-led support groups, and specialized personal care plans. Our mission is born from the personal recovery journey of our founder, who recognized the need for accessible, affordable, and quality mental health support. We prioritize a holistic and compassionate approach that fosters positive changes in our clients' lives.

Work Environment

This role is fully remote, allowing you to manage your schedule while delivering high-quality care. Valley Healing provides a supportive work environment that minimizes administrative burdens, enabling you to focus on your clients and their recovery. Our Clinical Operations Team is always available to assist you, ensuring you have the resources you need to succeed. In addition, you’ll participate in regular peer support groups, enhancing both personal and professional growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver compassionate counseling to clients through individual and group therapy sessions, utilizing therapeutic techniques like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Motivational Interviewing.
  • Develop personalized treatment plans tailored to each client's goals and circumstances, collaborating with medical professionals when necessary.
  • Be flexible with your availability to meet client needs, without any minimum hour requirements.
  • Encourage and educate clients on various community recovery support systems, such as Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and SMART Recovery, while reinforcing their complementary role during treatment with us.
  • Lead optional support groups or collaborate on content creation with our Content Manager to produce 'Expert Insights' for broader community education.
  • Handle virtually no administrative tasks or billing, as our administrative teams manage these processes, allowing you to concentrate on providing direct patient care.
  • Engage in continuing education and obtain annual CEU credits with costs covered by the organization.
  • Contribute to team discussions and collaborate with colleagues for best practices in clinical engagement and support strategies.
  • Maintain a high level of empathy and professional engagement with clients to foster a trusting therapeutic relationship.
Patient Population / Client Focus

You will work with a diverse population seeking to address complex challenges related to alcohol use and mental health. Many clients come from varying backgrounds and experiences, including those looking for moderation strategies rather than complete abstinence. It is essential to apply harm-reduction models in your approach, ensuring that each client feels heard and respected as they navigate their recovery path.

Qualifications
  • A valid and current clinical license (LCSW, LCSW-R, LMFT, or LMHC) in the state of New York.
  • At least three years of experience in mental health counseling, preferably with a focus on substance use disorders.
  • Proficient training and experience in CBT, DBT, conduct management, and trauma-informed care techniques.
  • Ability to understand and implement a harm-reduction model effectively in client interactions.
  • Excellent clinical engagement skills with the capacity to demonstrate empathy and build trust within therapeutic relationships.
Preferred Experience
  • Familiarity with community-based recovery support options and a demonstrated ability to guide clients toward these resources.
  • Experience leading support groups or community outreach initiatives, enhancing the therapeutic experience for participants.
  • Background in developing or collaborating on educational content for professional development or community awareness.
Compensation and Benefits

The annual salary for this position ranges from USD 80,000 to 100,000, based on experience and qualifications. In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes health insurance, a retirement plan, and generous paid time off. Our organization also emphasizes the importance of professional development, providing access to continuing education resources and growth opportunities.

Career Growth Opportunities

At Valley Healing Counseling Services, we believe in investing in our employees' futures. As a member of our team, you will have access to numerous professional development opportunities, mentorship programs, and the chance to take on leadership roles within our community-focused initiatives. Your growth and contributions are valued and recognized, paving the way for advancement in your career.

Why Join Our Team
