We are currently looking for an SVP, Senior Credit Officer, to join our Commercial Real Estate amp; Construction Lending team.
Job Summary
The Senior Credit Officer โ€“ CRE amp; Construction Lending (SCO) is responsible for providing leadership, governance, and oversight of the Bank's commercial credit portfolio with a primary focus on construction and development lending. This role oversees credit risk management, underwriting standards, portfolio quality, policy administration, and credit approval processes for residential development, single-family rental (SFR), built-to-rent (BTR), land acquisition and development, commercial real estate construction, build-to-suit projects, bridge financing, and related commercial real estate lending activities.
The SCO serves as a key member of the leadership team and works closely with the CEO, Chief Lending Officer, Senior Lending Officers, and lending-credit teams to support profitable growth while maintaining disciplined credit risk management practices. The position ensures that the Bank's real estate development and construction portfolios are structured, monitored, and managed in accordance with sound banking principles, regulatory expectations, and the Bank's strategic objectives.
What you can expect to work on
Credit Administration amp; Underwriting
  • Lead credit analyst team and oversee day-to-day underwriting operations.
  • Review and approve credit memorandums and complex transactions.
  • Ensure timely, accurate assessment of CRE and construction loans.
  • Maintain underwriting standards and credit quality.
Credit Risk Management amp; Governance
  • Develop and maintain credit risk framework, policies, and concentration limits.
  • Monitor KRIs, rating migration, delinquency, and emerging risks.
  • Contribute to CECL/ACL analysis and reserve adequacy.
  • Provide credible challenge and participate in credit committees.
Portfolio Management amp; Analytics
  • Analyze portfolio performance, concentrations, and market trends.
  • Conduct stress testing and sensitivity analysis.
  • Track policy exceptions and identify systemic risk issues.
  • Report to senior management, Audit Committee, and Board.
Construction amp; CRE Strategy
  • Oversee underwriting for residential construction and development, SFR, BTR, multifamily, and CRE build-to-suit projects.
  • Evaluate project feasibility, absorption, and exit strategies.
  • Align portfolio strategy with market conditions and risk appetite.
Compliance amp; Regulatory Oversight
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and internal policies.
  • Serve as a liaison with regulatory agencies on construction and commercial real estate matters.
  • Support internal and external audits, examinations, and loan reviews.
  • Maintain sound credit governance practices.
Leadership amp; Development
  • Mentor and develop credit and underwriting personnel.
  • Foster a strong credit culture and accountability.
  • Establish performance expectations and succession planning initiatives.
  • Work with executive leadership across lending and risk functions.
