Job description

DIGITAL STRATEGIST JOB DESCRIPTION
Dickerson, Bakker & Associates LLC (DickersonBakker) is a consulting firm established in 1985 that works primarily with faith-based nonprofit organizations, providing fundraising and executive search consulting services. Our team of 50+ is located across the USA. At present we have one physical office in Raleigh, NC.
We have an immediate opening in our Fundraising Solutions team for a responsible, organized, and detail-oriented individual to fill our Digital Strategist position. This role is fully remote, or can be based in our Raleigh, NC office.
Job Summary:
The Digital Strategist is responsible for shaping and delivering digital fundraising campaigns for our clients. The role blends digital strategy with hands-on campaign management: contributing to the digital strategy for assigned clients - channel mix, audience segmentation, messaging approach, and performance benchmarks - and then owning end-to-end execution of those campaigns on strategy, on time, and on budget. The long-term focus of this role will be ownership of full campaign strategy across our clients, including audience segmentation and customization, channel mix, platform integration and technology optimization, and management of campaign delivery. The near-term emphasis of this role will be focused on managing and optimizing campaign execution (creative production, development, and delivery).
This is a client-facing role. The Digital Strategist will interact directly with clients to review strategy and lead campaign-related discussions, while also collaborating internally with creative, web development, media, and account management teams and managing relationships with external strategic partners.
The Digital Strategist will report directly to the VP of Digital Services.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Digital Strategy
  • Contribute to digital fundraising strategy for assigned clients, including audience segmentation, donor journey, messaging strategy, creative direction, channel mix, and campaign execution.
  • Translate client fundraising goals into campaign plans with clear KPIs, benchmarks, and success criteria
  • Recommend testing approaches (A/B, segmentation, send-time, creative) to improve campaign performance over time
  • Build and maintain client-facing dashboards and performance reports
  • Translate performance data into forward-looking recommendations for clients and account teams
  • Lead and/or contribute to weekly client status meetings
  • Schedule and lead and/or contribute to internal and partner meetings as needed
  • Stay current on digital fundraising trends, platform capabilities, and direct response best practices

Campaign Management
  • Own end-to-end execution of digital fundraising campaigns and projects - from strategy brief, into campaign production, and through campaign launch and execution
  • Administrative setup and management of technical projects in project management platform(s)
  • Administrative setup of digital campaigns (appeal code creation, tracking link production, campaign tracking)
  • Gather and distribute resources for campaign execution (client stories, case studies, testimonies, etc.)
  • Manage delivery of digital campaigns: kicking off campaigns, overseeing technical execution, and transferring assets to partners and teams with clear instructions
  • Own the internal and external quality assurance ("QA") process with partners directly and with clients indirectly (through account managers) or directly when needed
  • Review all developed campaign content for brand accuracy and adherence to strategy and creative briefs
  • Build and deploy emails, landing pages, and/or donation forms within client platforms as needed
  • Manage strategic partner relationships and hold partners accountable to scope, timeline, and quality

Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Hands-on experience leading execution of digital fundraising or direct response campaigns end-to-end
  • Hands-on experience working directly within fundraising and marketing automation platforms
  • Hands-on experience building digital fundraising campaign assets (emails, landing pages, donation forms, etc.)
  • Hands-on experience building manual and automated dashboards and other client-facing reports
  • Ability to contribute to digital strategy - translating client goals, audience insight, and performance data into campaign plans and recommendations
  • Experience with email marketing, SMS marketing, digital advertising, and web development
  • Experience and comfort in a client-facing role with visibility across all levels of an organization, including presenting strategy and results directly to clients
  • Knowledge of direct response marketing and/or fundraising is a strong plus
  • Experience working with faith-based nonprofits, conservative causes, advocacy organizations, or agencies/consulting firms serving similar organizations is a plus
  • Exemplary attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to articulate strategic rationale clearly
  • Ability to handle multiple projects; a resourceful self-starter who can take initiative and follow through from concept to completion
  • Experience with digital platforms like Salesforce, HubSpot, Google Marketing Suite, Campaign Monitor, project management platforms like Asana and Monday, and data visualization tools like Power BI highly desirable

Education and Experience:
  • 5-7 years of digital campaign management and/or digital project management experience for a digital marketing agency or in-house digital marketing team, with exposure to digital strategy development. Agency experience will be given a strong preference.
  • Experience contributing to digital strategy - channel planning, segmentation, testing roadmaps, or performance optimization
  • Experience working with conservative, faith-based, and/or other mission-driven organizations is a plus
  • Performance marketing and/or digital fundraising experience is highly desired
  • Proven track record of building trust-based, consultative relationships with internal and external partners

Salary Range: $65,000 - 75,000 base with competitive benefits package
Location: Remote (within continental U.S.), candidates living in Eastern and Central time zones highly desirable. Option to work out of our Raleigh offices if desired.
