This position performs descriptive cataloging on a wide range of materials, including print and digital

resources. In addition, this position is chiefly responsible for coordinating with our Warehouse to receive the daily influx of new orders from customers, using bibliographic tools and local systems to find or create MARC records that will meet customer requirements. In addition, this position stages these orders for the rest of the cataloging unit daily to expedite further cataloging. Copy cataloging following local practices and RDA standards is also required.

What You'll Do
  • Organize inbound Catalog Hold report materials for efficient distribution to unit catalogers. 
  • Use local systems and bibliographic utilities to find and upgrade MARC records to meet customer requirements and RDA standards. 
  • Perform copy cataloging to assist in the timely completion of orders. 
  • Act as the primary point person with the Warehouse to ensure Catalog Hold orders are received and returned dynamically. 
  • Partner with Customer Service and Order Management regarding items purchased by customers when necessary. 
  • Assist with specialized cataloging projects to ensure all orders are prioritized appropriately.

You will be welcomed as a member of the Cataloging Unit (a team of 15) and the larger Library Technical Services Department. We provide ample resources, tools, training, and support to ensure your success as a Sr Adaptive Cataloger I and your development and career growth at EIS. 

About You
  • 5+ years of experience in a library or library service provider setting 
  • Thrives in a fast-paced production environment with clearly defined goals. 
  • Manages multiple competing priorities simultaneously while remaining flexible. 
  • Coordinates fluidly with internal colleagues and cross-functional departments. 
  • Executes highly detail-oriented work with a strict commitment to accuracy. 

What sets you apart:

  • Experience with library technical services, including copy cataloging experience
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Experience using RDA or MARC standards
  • Familiarity with MARC records, and classification systems such as Library of Congress, Dewey Decimal, and Library of Congress subject headings 
  • Familiarity with bibliographic utilities such as OCLC Connexion
