What is a Remote CPG?

A Remote CPG (Consumer Packaged Goods) job involves working in the CPG industry from a remote location, rather than a traditional office or in-person setting. These roles can include positions in sales, marketing, supply chain management, e-commerce, and data analysis, among others. Employees in remote CPG jobs use digital tools to collaborate with teams, manage product distribution, analyze consumer trends, and develop marketing strategies. This flexibility allows professionals to work from anywhere while contributing to the success of CPG brands.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Remote CPG position?

To thrive in a Remote CPG (Consumer Packaged Goods) role, you generally need a solid background in sales, marketing, or supply chain management within the CPG industry, often supported by a relevant degree. Familiarity with CRM software, data analytics tools, and project management platforms is typically required. Excellent communication, self-motivation, and problem-solving abilities help remote professionals collaborate effectively and drive business growth. These skills are essential to manage accounts, streamline operations, and maintain strong client and internal team relationships from a remote setting.

However, many organizations provide robust digital resources and regular virtual check-ins to support seamless coordination and professional development.

Job description

Our Client is a leading innovator in the health and wellness industry, specializing in the development and sourcing of clinically researched, high-quality ingredients for functional foods, beverages, and dietary supplements. With a commitment to science-backed solutions that support immune health, cognitive wellness, digestive health, joint support, and overall healthy aging, Our Client partners with top brands to deliver premium nutraceutical ingredients that drive consumer health outcomes. Headquartered in California, Our Client is a trusted global supplier with a growing presence in the US market, fueled by innovation, sustainability, and customer-centric excellence.

Position Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and results-oriented Vice President of Sales to lead our US sales strategy and drive revenue growth in the North American market. Reporting directly to the Chief Commercial Officer, this executive role will oversee the entire US sales organization, including direct sales, channel partners, and key account management. The ideal candidate is a strategic leader with deep expertise in the nutraceutical, functional food, and beverage sectors, passionate about building high-performing teams and expanding market share. This is a remote-friendly position with up to 50% travel, based in the continental US (preference for West Coast candidates).

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and Execute Sales Strategy: Create and implement a comprehensive US sales plan aligned with Our Client's global growth objectives, targeting key segments such as dietary supplements, functional beverages, and sports nutrition.
  • Lead Sales Teams: Build, mentor, and manage a high-impact sales team, including regional managers, account executives, and inside sales representatives, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and excellence.
  • Drive Revenue Growth: Identify and pursue new business opportunities, expand existing customer relationships, and achieve aggressive revenue targets through proactive pipeline management and cross-selling of Our Client's ingredient portfolio.
  • Key Account Management: Cultivate strategic partnerships with major US retailers, CPG brands, and distributors (e.g., GNC, Amazon, Whole Foods suppliers), negotiating contracts and ensuring long-term value delivery.
  • Market Intelligence and Analysis: Monitor industry trends, competitor activities, and customer needs in the US health ingredients market to inform product development and pricing strategies.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Marketing, R&D, Supply Chain, and Regulatory teams to ensure seamless go-to-market execution and compliance with FDA/US regulations.
  • Performance Metrics: Track KPIs such as sales quotas, customer acquisition costs, retention rates, and market penetration; report quarterly to executive leadership.
  • Industry Representation: Represent Our Client at trade shows (e.g., SupplySide West, Natural Products Expo), industry conferences, and customer events to enhance brand visibility.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Food Science, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive sales leadership experience in the nutraceutical, ingredients, or CPG industry, with at least 5 years in a VP-level role focused on the US market.
  • Proven track record of exceeding revenue targets (e.g., $50M+ annual sales responsibility) in B2B sales environments.
  • Strong understanding of the US functional food, beverage, and supplement markets, including regulatory landscape (e.g., DSHEA, FDA guidelines).
  • Exceptional leadership skills with experience building and scaling remote/highly distributed sales teams.
  • Proficiency in CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce) and sales analytics platforms.

Preferred:

  • Existing network of contacts within major US CPG companies, distributors, and retailers in the health and wellness space.
  • Experience with clinically validated ingredients or science-driven sales approaches.
  • Demonstrated success in launching new product lines or entering underserved market segments.

What We Offer

  • Competitive Compensation: Base salary range of $250,000 base, plus performance-based bonuses, commission structure, and equity options.

  • Comprehensive Benefits: Medical, dental, and vision coverage; 401(k) with company match; generous PTO; and professional development stipend.
  • Growth Opportunities: Join a collaborative, innovative culture where your leadership can shape Our Client's US expansion and contribute to global impact in health and wellness.
  • Work-Life Balance: Flexible remote work options, wellness programs, and support for work-from-anywhere lifestyles.
