What We Look For In a CPC Tutor
- Advanced Test Mastery: Deep knowledge of CPC examination content covering medical coding using CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS Level II code sets, anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, coding guidelines, compliance, and reimbursement methodology. Ability to explain evaluation and management coding, surgical coding rules, and modifier usage while preparing candidates for AAPC Certified Professional Coder certification.
- Strategic Test-Taking & Problem-Solving: Skilled at teaching code selection strategies, operative report interpretation, and coding guideline application for CPC examination. Guides students through abstracting diagnoses from medical records, selecting appropriate procedure codes, applying modifier rules, and navigating coding guidelines for E/M services. Emphasizes efficient codebook navigation during the timed examination and connecting coding rules to compliance requirements.
- Curriculum Awareness & Adaptive Instruction: Familiar with CPC examination content and common challenges such as E/M coding level selection, surgical package rules, and ICD-10-CM coding guideline application. Adapts instruction using practice coding scenarios, codebook tabbing strategies, and AAPC practice examinations to support healthcare professionals and career changers preparing for Certified Professional Coder certification.
- Effective Teaching Methods: Ability to identify concepts students commonly struggle with, explain material using multiple approaches, and adapt instruction to meet individual learning needs and styles.
- Strong communication skills and a friendly, engaging teaching style.
- Ability to adapt to different learning styles and student needs.
