Job description

Groundfloor provides public access to private markets with market-leading returns. Groundfloor is a remote-friendly, high-growth wealthtech company based out of Atlanta.

Our product is a first-of-its-kind investment platform for everyday investors that gives both non-accredited and accredited investors direct access to short-term, high-yield returns in private markets. Our flagship products are powered by loans to real estate investors, originated and serviced by Groundfloor.

Groundfloor is looking for a senior product designer to drive high-quality, human centered design. You will be leading efforts to develop consumer grade design to enable people to participate in and build portfolios of private market & real estate investments. This role works in close collaboration with the Product team, strengthening UX for user workflows, identifying pain points, and managing the execution of designs across Groundfloor's product lines. The ideal candidate is a thoughtful problem solver who is attentive to details but also comfortable with high level strategic thinking. You will define new ways to engage multiple investor segments as we scale the business and look to improve the customer experience.

We value vulnerable high-quality/low-ego collaboration. If that sounds good to you, join us!

THIS JOB MIGHT BE FOR YOU IF:

Experience:

  • Demonstrate an in-depth understanding and knowledge of user-centered design activities from research, concepting, flows, sitemaps, wireframes, to high fidelity user interfaces
  • A strong visual design sensibility
  • An in-depth understanding of UX concepts
  • A strong portfolio and a high quality of work
  • Design systems experience
  • Experience leveraging AI-assisted design and prototyping tools to accelerate exploration and iteration.
  • Clear and effective communication skills in articulating design concepts and rationales
  • Effective time-management skills and ability to deliver on multiple competing priorities

Skills:

  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to understand and contribute to an established product vision and strategy, balancing short-term goals with long-term objectives
  • Design and Aesthetic Insight: A keen eye for design and a deep appreciation for aesthetics, coupled with a practical understanding of how exceptional UX/UI drives business success in the fintech domain
  • Iterative Development: Ability to drive iterative improvements, based on customer feedback and market insights to deliver incremental value in a fast-paced Agile environment
  • User-Centric Mindset: Passion for understanding user needs and behaviors, with a commitment to delivering products that delight and exceed expectations
  • Mentorship: Demonstrated ability to raise the quality of design work through feedback, collaboration, and leadership by example.
  • Storytelling: The ability to present design ideas using storyboards, process flows and sitemaps; strength in developing mockups and prototypes that clearly illustrate how products will function and look like
  • Flying at different altitudes: The ability to deliver both wireframes and high-quality, polished designs using Figma

A DAY IN THE LIFE:

  • Help create a high performance design culture both by setting a high quality bar and mentoring other cross-functional designers
  • Work collaboratively with engineering, product, and business teams to define problems; goals, research requirements, map user flows, prototype, and launch new products
  • Manage the execution of design projects and the development of the design team
  • Proactively offer recommendations and solutions by championing high quality design standards grounded in research and analysis
  • Create deliverables at various levels of fidelity from sketches to wireframes to final designs
  • Communicate progress and key updates with other team members on a regular basis
  • Cultivate a deep understanding of Groundfloor's existing products and our users
  • Supporting early product definition by working closely with stakeholders and customers to participate in discovery sessions that uncover customer pain points and opportunities.
  • Work with product managers to understand customer needs and define opportunities through usability testing

YOUR EXPERIENCE + A FEW NICE TO HAVES:

  • 7+ years of product design experience, ideally designing consumer-facing digital products. Fintech, investing, wealthtech, or real estate product experience is a plus.
  • Advanced Figma skills
  • Experience with financial tools, investment platforms, and/or real estate products; professional experience preferred
  • Experience collaborating with front end developers to create efficient design systems
  • Success in raising the design bar on consumer-facing products, emphasizing a customer first approach
  • High degree of financial literacy, comfortable with basic concepts related to building and managing a personal portfolio of investments in public and private market securities
