The Department of Administration's Division of Hearings and Appeals is currently recruiting to fill an Attorney Supervisor vacancy within the Madison Corrections Hearings Unit.

The Division of Hearings and Appeals (DHA) is a quasi-judicial, independent entity created to conduct high quality, impartial, independent, and cost and time efficient hearings that serve customer agencies and the citizens of Wisconsin. DHA currently conducts hearings for fifteen state agencies and is also available to do hearings for other agencies when requested. It is a growing agency with a varied caseload which fall under these administrative units: Corrections Unit, Public Assistance and Social Services Unit. and General Government Unit.

Position Summary
Under the general direction of the Division Administrator, the Attorney Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of a professional staff of administrative law judges, conducts administrative hearings, reviews hearing testimony and prepares decisions, orders and other post-hearing documents, assists in the administrative review of Corrections decisions, and assists in the management of division operations. The Attorney Supervisor also acts as Administrator within the unit in the Administrator's absence.

Salary Information
This classification is assigned to pay schedule/range 71-01 with an annual salary of $114,400.00 - $123,219.20 annually, plus a $2.75 per hour attorney supervisor add-on. A 12-month probation may be required.
Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan at the time of hire.
Job Details
Due to the nature of the position, DOA will conduct background checks on applicants prior to selection. DOA does not sponsor work visas and is not an eligible OPT (Optional Practical Training) employer for F-1 international students. All persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States, and to complete the required employment eligibility form.
After training for up to 6 months, this position may be eligible for a hybrid remote/in-office work schedule, up to 50% of a two week pay period remote, as determined by the supervisor based upon the needs of the position and the work unit. This topic and any remote work flexibility that may be available will be discussed in more detail in the interview process.

Qualifications
Qualifications below will be evaluated during the selection process and must be addressed in your resume and letter of qualifications .
A minimally qualified applicant will be currently licensed to practice law in the state of Wisconsin and be in good standing with the State Bar of Wisconsin prior to the application deadline.
Qualified applicants will have experience performing each of the following activities:

• Working in administrative law, community corrections, or criminal law
• Researching, analyzing, and/or interpreting laws
• Providing legal advice, counsel, and/or recommendations
• Preparing and writing legal documents and/or memorandums (e.g., pleadings, briefs and allied court papers, legal opinions, administrative rules, orders, etc.)

In addition to the above, well-qualified applicants will also have experience with at least one of the following:

• Working in a supervisory or lead role ( Duties of the role may include: Setting performance goals and project deadlines; enforcing standards of professionalism; creating strategies to boost productivity; training of work activities; addressing work quality; staff delegation; resolving staff conflict; strategic planning; conducting performance reviews )
• Providing legal counsel to executive management
• Experience as a neutral (e.g., mediation, ALJ, judges)
