WHAT YOU WILL DO

Purpose of this Role: A Legal Assistant at LOGS provides exceptional work to the financial institutions we represent in a wide variety of creditor rights’ matters. This position is required to take and apply direction from various internal and external parties. A Legal Assistant will produce work product that reflects both the quantity and quality expected for their specific assigned tasks and do so with a high degree of accuracy.

Value to the Team: The Legal Assistant contributes value to the operations team by working to complete all duties thoroughly, accurately, and timely. This role also ensures compliance with laws, regulations, client requirements, court rules and best practices; collectively working to provide quality legal services to our clients.

Role Overview:

The Title Searcher/Abstractor will play a crucial role in examining and abstracting title documents to ensure accurate and clear title assessments. This role demands meticulous attention to detail, strong organizational abilities, and effective communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Title Examination: Review title orders in accordance with company guidelines to evaluate the condition and insurability of titles. Analyze documents such as deeds, deeds of trust, mechanics liens, tax liens, judgments, assessments, and probates to determine their impact on the title.
  • Document Analysis: Conduct thorough research and review of public records and legal documents to establish ownership, legal descriptions, and any title-related issues. Ensure accuracy and completeness of the information.
  • Issue Identification: Identify title defects or discrepancies and develop appropriate solutions to resolve these issues, ensuring a clear title.
  • Communication: Clearly explain the chain of title, exceptions, and requirements to clients. Provide detailed guidance on title issues as needed.
  • Production and SLA Compliance: Adhere to production targets and Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Maintain high production standards and ensure timely completion of tasks in line with company expectations and deadlines.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other responsibilities as assigned by management and participate in special projects as required.

Qualifications: Please note, applicants should have direct experience working with title examination.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: At least 5 years of experience in title examination.
  • Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of real estate law, title examination processes, and the ability to interpret complex legal documents.
  • Skills: Strong communication skills (both verbal and written), excellent problem-solving abilities, and organizational proficiency.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with title examination procedures and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Ability to remain focused for extended periods.
  • Ability to work on computers for a significant portion of the day.
  • Ability to perform repetitive movements as required for positions (Typing, clicking, swiveling).
