JOB TITLE:  Controls Engineer, Parcel Systems Remote Support

REPORTS TO: Director of Service and Support

JOB STATUS: Full Time 

FLSA STATUS: Exempt 

DATE:  March 25, 2026

JOB SUMMARY: 

The Controls Engineer for Parcel Systems Remote Support provides technical support for automated parcel handling systems, initially focused on supporting Amazon operations. This role is part of the After Sales and Service team and is responsible for providing remote PLC and electrical systems support to maintain system availability and performance.

This position requires an engineer who is comfortable responding to technical support calls in a fast paced environment and capable of troubleshooting complex controls and electrical issues remotely. The role involves supporting systems used in warehouse and airport environments where conveyor technology and automation systems are similar in operation but may differ in hardware and configuration.


The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting customers around the clock as part of a 24 hour, 7-day support structure. Occasional travel to customer sites may be required to assist with system troubleshooting, commissioning, or service activities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Remote Technical Support

Provide remote troubleshooting and support for parcel handling automation systems

Respond to PLC and electrical system support calls from Amazon and other customers

Diagnose and resolve controls related issues affecting conveyor and automation systems

Guide onsite maintenance teams through troubleshooting procedures when required

Document service activities, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions

Controls and Electrical Systems Support

Support PLC controlled conveyor and automation systems used in warehouse and airport environments

Analyze electrical schematics and control logic to identify and resolve system faults

Assist with system diagnostics, software troubleshooting, and control system recovery

Provide guidance on proper system operation and maintenance procedures

Customer Support and Communication

Serve as a technical point of contact for customer support requests

Maintain clear and professional communication during troubleshooting activities

Provide timely updates on system status and issue resolution

Maintain accurate service documentation and support records

Service and Project Support

Support the After Sales team in activities related to service contracts, spare parts, and small projects

Assist with system upgrades, troubleshooting support, and engineering analysis when required

Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to service and support operations

Travel and Field Support

Travel to customer sites when remote support cannot fully resolve issues

Assist with onsite troubleshooting, commissioning, or service activities when required

Support coordination between field technicians and remote engineering teams


WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position is primarily focused on remote support operations and may require participation in a rotating support schedule to provide continuous customer coverage. Occasional travel to customer sites may be required to support troubleshooting or service activities.

WORK SCHEDULE:   

This role works in office when not traveling to job site. General office hours are M-F, 7a-4p or 8a-5p. Working hours will vary when working at a job site to meet the project requirements as needed.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related field

Experience with PLC based automation systems in industrial or material handling environments

Strong understanding of electrical systems used in warehouse automation or airport baggage handling systems

Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and control logic

Experience troubleshooting conveyor systems and automated material handling equipment preferred

Strong problem solving and analytical skills

Excellent communication skills and ability to support customers remotely

Willingness to participate in a 24-hour support environment

Ability to travel occasionally for onsite support
