Controls Engineer

Reliance One is seeking a Controls Engineer to support advanced manufacturing operations in Georgetown, Kentucky. This Controls Engineer opportunity is ideal for an experienced automation professional with strong PLC programming, troubleshooting, and industrial controls experience who enjoys improving equipment performance, supporting production teams, and implementing innovative solutions.


The successful candidate will play a key role in equipment installation, troubleshooting, optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives while collaborating with vendors, maintenance teams, and production members.


What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Review equipment specifications and designs to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Conduct vendor buyoffs to confirm equipment functionality, safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Install, set up, and troubleshoot manufacturing equipment and control systems.
  • Investigate equipment issues, determine modification requirements, and implement solutions.
  • Trial and adjust equipment modifications to improve performance.
  • Oversee vendor installations and support processes that reduce project costs and timelines.
  • Improve equipment quality and productivity through adjustments identified during vehicle trials.
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot ToyoPuc, Allen-Bradley, and other programmable controllers.
  • Provide training to Maintenance team members on newly implemented equipment.
  • Share subject matter expertise with local NAMC Maintenance and Production teams.
  • Travel up to 20% as needed, including travel to:
  • U.S., Canada, and Mexico NAMCs and suppliers
  • International locations, including Japan, Canada, and Mexico
  • Work overtime, including weekends and holidays, as required.


Required Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of experience with strong PLC programming and troubleshooting experience.
  • 6+ years of comprehensive PLC knowledge.
  • 4+ years of experience with electrical circuits and industrial controls.
  • Experience with PLC systems including:
  • ToyoPuc
  • Siemens
  • Omron
  • Mitsubishi
  • Allen-Bradley
  • 2-year technical degree or completion of a trade school program in:
  • Electrical Engineering Technology (EET)
  • Industrial Maintenance Technology
  • Equivalent technical work experience
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Ability to travel up to 20%.
  • Ability to work overtime, including weekends and holidays, when required.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs. occasionally.
  • Ability to frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, and crouch on varying surfaces.
  • Manual dexterity to operate hand tools, power tools, and machinery.
  • Strong vision and hand-eye coordination for detailed repairs and troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Teams.
