Job description

As a mid level Electrical Engineer in the Data Center Substations group, you will be responsible for performing engineering design and analysis under the responsible charge of a Professional Engineer. You will be responsible for supporting client projects and providing a quality deliverable that is on time and within the defined budget.

Salary Range: $90,000 - $110,000 / year

The salary range above is based upon the Denver, Colorado labor market.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Performs detailed design on all aspects of substation electrical power systems to include one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, control and relaying schematics, wiring diagrams, SCADA, communications, conduit and cable sizing/routing, grounding design, general arrangement, selection of equipment, writing of equipment specifications, project and construction cost estimates, and project scheduling
  • Prepares computer-based models and perform power system studies on utility and industrial/commercial electrical power transmission and distribution systems, including short circuit, load flow, relay coordination, arc flash, power factor, harmonic analysis, and other related studies. ย Employee should create simple hand checks to quantify the computer aided results
  • Develops protective relay settings.ย 
  • Prepares a variety of documents and reports associated with projects including cost estimates, budget reports, proposals, and studies
  • Provides field assistance and troubleshooting
  • Checks the work of designers, drafters, and field service personnel for general quality and accuracy as required
  • Understands the applications of relevant Codes and Standards
  • Assists with client contacts and communication pertaining to specific assignments and meetings
  • Other duties as assigned
Must Have
  • Education: Bachelorโ€™s in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited institution, electric power option preferred
  • Experience: 1 โ€“ 5 years of relevant engineering or field experience
  • Licensure: FE, PE is a plus, but not required
  • Knowledge and familiarity with substation electrical design
  • Experience with AutoCAD is a plus
  • Possesses effective written and oral communications skills
  • Good interpersonal and people skills

Work Environment

  • Hybrid or fully remote work model depending on location and project needsย 
  • Travel typically ranges from 15โ€“25% and varies by projectย 
  • Combination of office-based work and periodic field engagementย
