Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior ServiceNow APM / CMDB Analyst to support the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of Application Portfolio Management (APM) capabilities within the ServiceNow platform. This role will play a critical part in advancing enterprise CMDB strategy by helping establish a trusted, accurate, and complete system of record for application and service data.

The ideal candidate will partner closely with the CMDB Practice Owner, Enterprise Architecture, Cybersecurity, and Business stakeholders to enable data-driven decision-making related to application lifecycle management, risk reduction, and technology investment alignment. This individual will help drive standardization, governance, data quality, and reporting to ensure application and CMDB data supports both operational excellence and strategic planning.

This role is well suited for someone who combines strong ServiceNow platform knowledge with disciplined data governance, stakeholder engagement, and the ability to translate technical portfolio data into meaningful business insights.

Key ResponsibilitiesAPM & CMDB Strategy Execution
  • Partner with the CMDB Practice Owner to support development and execution of a multi-year CMDB and APM transformation roadmap.
  • Support establishment of a centralized application portfolio aligned to enterprise data standards and CSDM frameworks.
  • Drive adoption and operational use of ServiceNow APM capabilities across IT and business domains.
  • Help align application and service data strategies with enterprise architecture, cybersecurity, and operational needs.
Application Portfolio Management
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive inventory of business applications within ServiceNow APM.
  • Define and support lifecycle processes for application onboarding, maintenance, rationalization, modernization, and retirement.
  • Enable business and technology decision-making related to application investment, sustainment, modernization, and decommissioning.
  • Help ensure portfolio data supports strategic planning, technology roadmaps, and risk-informed decisions.
Data Governance & Quality Management
  • Establish and enforce standards for application and CMDB data quality, completeness, consistency, and integrity.
  • Perform ongoing data validation, certification, reconciliation, and remediation activities.
  • Identify and resolve duplicate, incomplete, or inaccurate records within the portfolio and CMDB.
  • Support governance processes that improve trust in ServiceNow as a system of record.
ServiceNow Configuration & Data Model Management
  • Design, configure, and maintain APM and CMDB data models, relationships, and workflows within ServiceNow.
  • Ensure solution design aligns with enterprise architecture standards, integration patterns, and CMDB governance requirements.
  • Support integrations, APIs, and automated data ingestion across source systems where applicable.
  • Help maintain scalable, sustainable data structures that support application, service, and technical relationship mapping.
Security, Risk & Data Classification
  • Support implementation and maintenance of appropriate access controls for application and CMDB data.
  • Assist with application classification activities, including business criticality, risk, compliance, and data sensitivity.
  • Ensure alignment with cybersecurity, audit, and compliance requirements tied to application portfolio and CMDB governance.
  • Partner with stakeholders to improve transparency around risk exposure and technology dependencies.
Stakeholder Engagement & Governance Support
  • Partner with application owners, IT teams, enterprise architects, cybersecurity teams, and business stakeholders to maintain accurate and complete portfolio data.
  • Translate technical and platform concepts into business-friendly insights, recommendations, and reporting.
  • Support governance forums such as PMRB, architecture review boards, and other decision-making groups with analysis and reporting.
  • Help establish accountability for data stewardship and portfolio ownership across the organization.
Performance Measurement & Reporting
  • Define, track, and report on KPIs related to application portfolio health, CMDB data quality, business value, risk, and cost.
  • Develop dashboards, scorecards, and reports that provide visibility into application performance, lifecycle status, risk posture, and optimization opportunities.
  • Support leadership reporting and strategic planning through clear, actionable analysis.

Continuous Improvement

  • Maintain and enhance ServiceNow APM and CMDB records, structures, and supporting workflows.
  • Partner with stakeholders to validate application data, ownership, classifications, and relationships.
  • Perform data quality reviews, reconciliation, and remediation activities.
  • Support governance meetings and prepare reporting, dashboards, and portfolio insights.
  • Coordinate with enterprise architecture, cybersecurity, and business teams on application portfolio updates and standards.
  • Assist with integrations, data ingestion efforts, and service/application relationship management.
  • Monitor key metrics and identify opportunities to improve data quality, reporting, and business value.
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in ServiceNow, CMDB, IT asset / application portfolio management, enterprise architecture support, or a related role.
  • Hands-on experience with ServiceNow Application Portfolio Management (APM) and/or strong related ServiceNow platform experience.
  • Strong understanding of CMDB, CSDM, ITOM, and enterprise architecture frameworks.
  • Experience supporting application lifecycle management and portfolio rationalization efforts.
  • Experience with data governance, data quality management, and record standardization in enterprise systems.
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow configuration, workflows, relationships, and data model management.
  • Experience supporting integrations, APIs, and automated data ingestion within or adjacent to ServiceNow environments.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and stakeholder communication skills.
  • Ability to translate technical platform and data concepts into business-focused insights and recommendations.
