Remote Contract Editing information

What are some common challenges faced by remote contract editors, and how can they be managed effectively?

Remote contract editors often face challenges such as coordinating with clients across different time zones, managing multiple deadlines simultaneously, and maintaining clear communication despite working virtually. To manage these effectively, it's important to establish a structured workflow, use collaborative editing tools, and schedule regular check-ins with clients or team members. Staying organized and setting clear expectations at the outset of each project can help ensure smooth collaboration and timely delivery.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote contract editor?

To excel as a Remote Contract Editor, you need a strong grasp of language, grammar, and style guidelines, often supported by a relevant degree or professional editing experience. Familiarity with editing tools like Microsoft Word, Google Docs, and track changes, as well as knowledge of style guides such as APA or Chicago Manual of Style, is typically required. Attention to detail, time management, and clear communication are crucial soft skills for managing deadlines and client expectations remotely. These competencies ensure high-quality, error-free deliverables and reliable client relationships in a remote work environment.

What is remote contract editing?

Remote contract editing involves reviewing, revising, and proofreading contracts and legal documents from a remote location, rather than working onsite. Professionals in this field ensure that contracts are clear, accurate, legally compliant, and free of errors. They may work independently or as part of a legal team, collaborating with clients and colleagues via email, video calls, or document-sharing platforms. Remote contract editors typically need a strong understanding of legal terminology and excellent attention to detail.

What is the difference between Remote Contract Editing vs Remote Freelance Writing?

AspectRemote Contract EditingRemote Freelance Writing
CredentialsEditing certifications, degree in English or related fieldWriting samples, portfolio, sometimes writing certifications
Work EnvironmentTypically project-based, collaborative with editors and authorsIndependent, self-managed projects, client communication
Industry UsagePublishing, media, academic, corporateMedia, marketing, blogging, publishing

Remote Contract Editing and Remote Freelance Writing both involve remote work, but editing focuses on refining existing content, while writing involves creating original content. Editing often requires specific editing certifications and collaboration with authors, whereas writing emphasizes portfolio and writing skills. Both roles are common in publishing and media industries, but they serve different functions in content development.

Senior Marketing Coordinator

Vellum Law

Boca Raton, FL โ€ข On-site, Remote

Full-time, Part-time

Job description

Position: Senior Marketing Coordinator

Reports To: Owner & Managing Attorney

Employment Classification: Remote, Part-Time (with potential to grow)

Do you turn a scattered content calendar into a coherent strategy? Can you look at a month of engagement data and know exactly what to change — and do you catch a brand or compliance problem before it ever goes live?

We are seeking a Senior Marketing Coordinator to own the firm's marketing strategy and online presence across Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and TikTok. This is not a role for someone who needs a playbook handed to them — we're looking for someone who can set direction, make judgment calls, and execute with minimal oversight. You'll work closely with our Marketing Assistant, who handles day-to-day content production, design, and publishing, and step in to cover that work when needed.

WHAT WE OFFER

  • Flexible remote contract work structure.

  • A firm that invests in modern technology, AI-assisted workflows, and smart operations.

  • The opportunity to develop an ongoing working relationship as the firm continues to grow, with a path to full-time hours.

Compensation:

$30 hourly

Responsibilities:

WHAT YOU'LL DO

You will own the marketing strategy and oversight for the firm, including:

Strategy Content Calendar

  • Own and maintain the firm's content calendar across Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and TikTok, and assign content to the Marketing Assistant.
  • Develop content strategy and campaign ideas to grow audience and engagement.
  • Conduct competitor and market research to inform content and positioning.

Brand & Compliance Oversight

  • Review content before publishing to ensure it reflects a professional, brand-consistent, and law-appropriate tone.
  • Enforce brand and compliance guidelines across all platforms and materials.

Performance Reporting & Analytics

  • Deliver monthly performance and engagement reports with insights and recommendations.
  • Pull and interpret platform analytics to inform strategy adjustments.

Referral Source Tracking

  • Maintain the firm's referral source tracker — logging referral partners, follow-ups, and relationship status.

Presentations & Firm Materials

  • Prepare professional presentations and marketing materials for meetings, webinars, firm updates, and internal/external use.

Team Coordination

  • Serve as the firm's main point of contact for marketing matters and coordinate priorities with the Marketing Assistant.
  • Step in to publish content, moderate live sessions, or respond to followers when the Marketing Assistant is unavailable.

Qualifications:

WHO YOU ARE

The statements below describe the person we're looking for:

  • You can look at a content calendar and a set of analytics and turn both into a clear strategy.

  • You catch brand and compliance issues before they go live, not after.

  • You can manage competing priorities and deadlines without repeated follow-up.

  • You're comfortable working with (or quickly learning) legal terminology, ideally in real estate law.

  • You are technologically competent and comfortable with AI-assisted workflows and modern marketing tools.

  • You work independently and bring solutions, not just questions.

This role is not a fit if you:

  • Require extensive supervision or a fully built-out playbook to execute.

  • Are primarily a content creator/designer looking to do day-to-day production rather than set strategy.

  • Struggle with organization, reporting, or deadline management.

  • Are uncomfortable with technology or process-driven workflows.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2+ years of experience managing Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and LinkedIn accounts, including content strategy and reporting.

  • Strong analytical skills — comfortable pulling and interpreting platform analytics.

  • Working knowledge of photo and video editing tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe, CapCut).

  • Experience maintaining a CRM, spreadsheet-based tracker, or referral/lead log, with strong follow-up discipline.

  • Prior experience creating content or strategy for law firms, or demonstrated knowledge of legal terminology (real estate law experience preferred).

  • Portfolio required (strategy samples, reports, graphics, videos, social media samples).

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
