Remote Contingent Workforce Management information

What is remote contingent workforce management?

Remote Contingent Workforce Management refers to the oversight, coordination, and administration of temporary, contract, or freelance workers who perform their roles offsite, often from various locations. This process involves sourcing, onboarding, managing, and paying contingent workers who are not full-time employees and do not work in a traditional office setting. Effective remote contingent workforce management ensures compliance, productivity, and communication among distributed teams while controlling labor costs. It often leverages technology platforms to track performance, manage contracts, and facilitate collaboration. This approach is increasingly popular as organizations seek flexible staffing solutions and access to a wider talent pool.

What are common challenges faced in remote contingent workforce management, and how can they be addressed?

Remote contingent workforce management often involves overcoming challenges such as ensuring consistent communication, maintaining compliance with varying labor laws, and integrating contingent workers into existing teams. To address these issues, many organizations implement centralized digital platforms for onboarding, project tracking, and communication. Regular check-ins, clear documentation of processes, and strong collaboration with HR and legal teams help ensure both productivity and compliance. Building a sense of inclusion among remote contingent workers is also crucial, which can be fostered through virtual team meetings and recognition programs.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote contingent workforce manager, and why are they important?

To excel as a Remote Contingent Workforce Manager, you typically need expertise in workforce planning, talent acquisition, contract negotiation, and a background in human resources or business administration. Familiarity with vendor management systems (VMS), applicant tracking systems (ATS), and relevant certifications like SIA's Certified Contingent Workforce Professional (CCWP) are highly valuable. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills set top performers apart in managing distributed teams and stakeholders. These skills ensure effective oversight, compliance, and optimization of a flexible workforce in a remote environment.

Are you ready to accelerate your potential and make a real difference within life sciences, diagnostics and biotechnology?

At Cepheid, one of Danaher's 15+ operating companies, our work saves lives-and we're all united by a shared commitment to innovate for tangible impact.

You'll thrive in a culture of belonging where you and your unique viewpoint matter. And by harnessing Danaher's system of continuous improvement, you help turn ideas into impact - innovating at the speed of life.

At Cepheid, we are passionate about improving health care through fast, accurate, molecular diagnostic systems and tests. As a member of our team, you'll get to make an immediate, measurable impact on a global scale, within an environment that fosters career growth and development. Our mission drives us to develop groundbreaking solutions for the world's most complex health challenges. Together, we bring MORE change to the world.

Learn about the Danaher Business System which makes everything possible.

The Regional Sales Director is responsible for the leadership, planning, development, and execution of activities to achieve regional revenue, profit, and customer satisfaction objectives. This role leads a team of senior sales representatives in a complex, team-selling environment while driving strategic growth across a diverse customer base. The position requires strong leadership and cross-functional collaboration to expand market share, advance key account strategies, and support enterprise opportunities, including integrated health systems and IDNs.

In addition, this role is accountable for driving regional distribution engagement and business performance, ensuring effective portfolio positioning, strong channel partnerships, and the execution of joint growth initiatives that accelerate revenue and market penetration.

This position reports to the Sr. Director Sales Alternate Site and is part of the Alternate Site US Sales team located in the western region of the US and will be fully remote.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of sales professionals, providing ongoing feedback, performance management, and professional development.
  • Lead strategic engagement within Health Systems and IDNs, partnering cross-functionally (Sales, Marketing, Medical Affairs, Finance, and Executive Leadership) to develop and close enterprise-wide standardization agreements.
  • Own Regional Distribution Strategy and Execution, including positioning Cepheid's portfolio effectively within distributor channels and influencing distributor prioritization through value proposition, margin alignment, and growth opportunity.
  • Leading joint business planning, Regional Sales Meetings, and Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs).
  • Developing and executing localized promotional programs in partnership with distribution partners.

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Bachelor's degree with 10+ years of relevant business or diagnostic industry experience.
  • Ability to negotiate contracts ranging from single-site agreements to large health system and enterprise-level partnerships.
  • Strong executive presence with exceptional negotiation skills and success driving multi-year agreements in complex environments.
  • Proven success working with non-acute distribution partners.
  • Knowledge of PCR / molecular diagnostics is preferred.

Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements: if applicable for role

  • Travel up to 50% as required.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Proven leadership capabilities with a track record of building, developing, and retaining high-performing sales teams.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams in complex sales environments, coordinating stakeholders to develop and execute comprehensive account strategies.
  • Strong understanding of channel economics, margin structures, and go-to-market strategies involving distribution partners.
