Job description

SaaS Technical Writer & Content Strategist
Contract | Remote, U.S.

  • Hourly Rate: $75/hour
  • 40 hours/week
  • 6-Month Contract

 
THE ROLE:
Our client is seeking an Independent Contractor in the role of SaaS Technical Writer & Content Strategist to support documentation, UX copy, and in-app content for a SaaS platform. This project-based engagement will focus on auditing the existing brand voice and content landscape, developing content standards and strategy, and creating help center articles, microcopy, and in-app guidance.
 
You’ll collaborate with product, design, and engineering teams to gather context, support product releases, and ensure users have clear, consistent, and helpful content.
Tools you may interface with include Slack, GitHub, Jira, Confluence, Figma, Zendesk, and Pendo:
Scope of Work & Deliverables

  • Technical Writing | Approximately 50%
  • Content Strategy | Approximately 30%
  • UX Copy | Approximately 20%

 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:

  • At least 5+ years of experience spanning technical writing and content strategy in SaaS or platform environments is required. Experience in industrial SaaS, such as asset management, logistics, transportation, or fleet-related software is a strong plus
  • Claude experience highly desired
  • Hands-on experience with Zendesk, including creating, organizing, and maintaining help center content
  • Experience with Pendo or similar in-app guidance platforms
  • Demonstrated experience conducting content and/or brand audits using a clear methodology and presenting recommendations to stakeholders
  • Ability to develop and execute end-to-end content strategy, from research through execution and measurement
  • Exceptional writing skills across technical, UX, and user-facing content
  • Experience working in Figma and contributing UX copy within design workflows
  • Fluency with AI-assisted writing tools for documentation and UX content
  • Comfort with HTML and CSS; JavaScript familiarity is a plus
  • Data literacy and the ability to derive insights from analytics tools
  • Strong ability to work independently with proactive communication in a remote environment
  • High standards for writing quality — including, proudly, the Oxford comma
