Job description

Job Description:
Read this part first:
This is a build-a-practice role, not a manage-what-exists one. Prodege is moving fast and changing fast, and we need a design leader who finds that energizing rather than exhausting.
If you want an established design org with a mature system and a settled roadmap, this isn't your role, and that's okay. But if you're the kind of leader who walks into ambiguity and sets the bar, who'd rather build a team and a practice than inherit a finished one, and who still loves the craft enough to roll up your sleeves on the work that matters most, keep reading.
One thing to be clear about up front: this is a player-coach role. You'll have designers reporting to you, but you'll also do hands-on design on the highest-impact work. You're building a team and a practice, not just running one.
About the role:
You'll lead Product Design at Prodege, owning the design vision, quality, and team across our consumer (B2C) and business (B2B) products. Our consumer apps are the heart of the ecosystem (about 80% of your focus), serving millions of members who earn rewards through surveys, games, shopping, and offers. Our B2B products serve the clients and partners who power that ecosystem.
You'll operate as a strategic partner to Product, Engineering, and Marketing leadership, owning how design contributes to business outcomes, customer trust, and long-term product vision. This role shapes how millions of members discover, engage with, and find value in Prodege's products, translating complex reward and loyalty mechanics into intuitive, delightful, accessible experiences that drive acquisition, activation, engagement, and long-term retention.
You'll report to the Chief Product Officer and partner directly with Product Management, Engineering, Data, and Marketing leadership.
What you'll own:
  • Design vision and strategy. Set the direction for how Prodege's products look, feel, and work across our B2C and B2B products, designed intentionally for their distinct users and contexts.
  • The team. Hire, mentor, and develop a high-performing design team. Set clear expectations, give direct feedback, and create an environment where designers do career-best work.
  • Design quality and craft. Establish the bar. Whether it's a member onboarding flow or a client-facing dashboard, the end product should be intuitive, polished, and grounded in real user needs.
  • Systems and scalability. Build and evolve design systems that let the team move fast without sacrificing consistency or accessibility.
  • Outcomes, not just outputs. Partner with Product and Data so design decisions connect to the metrics that matter: activation, retention, engagement, and client satisfaction.

What success looks like:
In your first 3 months, you've assessed the current state, earned trust across Product and Engineering, established design standards, and started shipping visible improvements to the consumer experience.
At 6 months, the design team is stronger (in capability and possibly size), there's a functioning design system, and your work has measurably moved at least one core business metric. Cross-functional leaders see design as a strategic advantage, not a service function.
Long-term, you're the design conscience and creative force behind Prodege's consumer brand experiences, driving a measurably more cohesive, intuitive, and delightful product across web and mobile. Your work directly contributes to improvements in activation, engagement, retention, and revenue per active user.
You're known for exceptional craft, rigorous thinking, and the ability to turn complex problems into simple, elegant solutions.
What you'll do:
Design vision and strategy
  • Set and communicate design vision, principles, and direction across Prodege's consumer product portfolio
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Data leadership to align design strategy with business goals and roadmaps
  • Translate complex reward and loyalty mechanics into intuitive, delightful experiences across web and mobile
  • Present work, rationale, and strategy to executive stakeholders with clarity and confidence
  • Advocate for user needs and design quality in prioritization and roadmap discussions

Team leadership and development
  • Hire, mentor, and grow a high-performing product design team
  • Set clear expectations, deliver direct feedback, and run regular 1:1s and performance reviews
  • Manage capacity and prioritization across concurrent workstreams
  • Establish team rituals (critiques, reviews, retrospectives) that raise craft and collaboration

Design quality and scalability
  • Own the quality bar for all consumer design output across Prodege's owned-and-operated (O&O) brands
  • Lead hands-on design on the highest-impact initiatives: onboarding, engagement loops, and reward experiences
  • Champion user-centered practices including research, usability testing, journey mapping, and iterative prototyping
  • Ensure accessibility standards are met across all product experiences
  • Partner with Engineering on accurate implementation, maintenance, and system governance

Outcomes and data-informed design
  • Define success metrics for design initiatives with Product and Data leads
  • Use quantitative signals (activation, retention, engagement) and qualitative insights to inform and validate design decisions
  • Design and support A/B tests to optimize experiences and measure impact
  • Communicate design impact clearly to leadership

People leadership and governance
  • Manage performance end to end: goal-setting, coaching, corrective action, reviews, recognition, and development
  • Own the employee lifecycle for your team: headcount forecasting, job descriptions, hiring, and termination
  • Ensure compliance with company policy and employment law, including timekeeping and anti-harassment and diversity requirements
  • Model and cultivate a culture of collaboration, strong work ethic, quality, results, and genuine pride in the work

Why this role is worth your time:
  • Scale that matters: your design decisions reach millions of members across web and mobile
  • Real ownership: you set the vision, build the team, and own the quality bar, not a piece of it, all of it
  • Craft and leadership together: a player-coach role for someone who doesn't want to stop designing
  • Design treated as strategy: a direct line to the CPO and a mandate to make design a competitive advantage
  • Backed for growth: Prodege closed a major Blackstone investment in Q1 2026, which means real momentum and real investment in the practice you'd be building

A bit about Prodege:
Prodege is a marketing and consumer insights platform that helps leading brands, marketers, and agencies answer their business questions, acquire customers, grow revenue, and build brand loyalty. We go the extra mile to "Create Rewarding Moments" for our partners, consumers, and team. We operate with startup speed and a startup appetite for change, backed by the resources of a major investment partner.
The must-haves:
  • 10+ years in Product Design
  • 5+ years directly managing product designers
  • Experience with products that incorporate or are moving toward AI-powered features, and the judgment to design for emerging capabilities thoughtfully
  • A strong portfolio showing design leadership of high-craft, complex products from concept through launch, with clear impact on users and the business
  • Excellent judgment: you know when to go deep, when to delegate, and when to push
  • Proven experience leading design strategy and execution in close partnership with senior Product and Engineering
  • Demonstrated ability to define and ship high-quality experiences in complex, ambiguous problem spaces with velocity
  • Strong product instincts: you can zoom out to strategy and zoom in to details with equal confidence
  • Deep commitment to growing people and raising the craft bar across a team
  • Comfort operating in fast-moving environments with evolving priorities
  • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to influence senior stakeholders
  • A growth mindset, resilience, and a bias toward learning through doing
  • Strong people leadership instincts with a bias toward clarity, empathy, and accountability

The nice-to-haves:
  • Experience designing B2B or SaaS products such as client-facing dashboards, partner portals, or operational platforms
  • Experience designing for or incorporating AI-powered features into consumer products
  • Background building AdTech, rewards/loyalty, or MarTech experiences
  • Familiarity with gamification, behavioral nudges, or reward system design
  • Experience in experimentation-heavy product environments

Pay Transparency:
The anticipated base salary range for this position is $165,000 to $196,600. The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include, but are not limited to: the type and length of experience within the job, type and length of experience within the industry, the type and length of knowledge and skills for the position, education, training, etc. Prodege is a multi-state employer, and final compensation within this range could be impacted by work location.
