Summary
The Consumer Lending Specialist I will assist Members with their lending needs, analyze loan requests, and make recommendations for loan approval/denial based on established Consumer Lending Guidelines. In addition, the Consumer Lending Specialist will open accounts, resolve issues, and provide information and guidance to Members on the products and services offered by Alabama ONE.
Responsibilities
Receive Member consumer lending requests electronically and make recommendations about Member loans based on underwriting standards; analyze current financial position of Member to determine the degree of risk involved in extending credit or lending money; make recommendation to approve or forward the loan request to the Senior Underwriters; maintain a thorough knowledge of Credit Union lending guidelines, credit-granting criteria, interest rates how they are computed, and the documentation required
Prepare and/or review all loan documents for completeness and accuracy, and establish the terms and conditions of an approved loan and review them with the Member
Assist in the responsibility for ensuring each loan is prepared, documented, approved, and disbursed appropriately and in a timely manner; if a loan is not approved, the Consumer Lending Specialist has the responsibility to notify the borrower
Open member accounts
Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
- Two to four years of similar experience
- High School Diploma/GED
- High degree of courtesy, tact, and diplomacy
- Proficiency in Word, Microsoft Office, and Outlook
- Ability to quickly learn, understand, and apply Credit Union lending guidelines appropriately and consistently
- Comply with lending guidelines
- Ability to meet and exceed established goals
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to work closely with Members and non-Members to effectively garner information, build relationships, and solicit cooperation
- Ability to provide prompt, informative, and accurate service and support to Members
