Our skilled team of craftsmen delivers the highest standards of quality and precision. As we continue to grow, we are committed to ensuring every team member is well-trained, well-supported, and empowered to succeed within NexGen's framework.
Qualifications
Position Overview
The Batch Plant Assistant Superintendent is responsible for supporting all aspects of batch plant operations as required, ensuring efficient, high-quality concrete production. This role will operate the batch plant, manage stockpiles, receive and inventory materials, monitor plant performance, and perform preventative and routine maintenance. The Assistant Superintendent will be actively involved in monitoring the quality and consistency of plant inputs and outputs, while working closely with the onsite quality control and field operations teams to ensure production aligns with the demand of the project. This position requires a hands-on, solution-oriented professional who is committed to promoting the success of the overall team in a high-production concrete environment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Operate the batch plant as required, ensuring continuous and efficient production.
  • Operate the loader to stock the plant and manage onsite stockpiles.
  • Receive and inventory batch plant materials, ensuring proper documentation and storage.
  • Monitor plant performance and adjust operations to maximize uptime and efficiency.
  • Perform preventative and routine maintenance, including minor equipment repairs and troubleshooting.
  • Monitor the quality and consistency of plant inputs and outputs, adjusting as needed to meet project requirements.
  • Work closely with onsite quality control and field operations teams to ensure production aligns with project demand.
  • Conduct daily aggregate moisture testing and adjust batch designs accordingly.
  • Maintain compliance with company safety policies, OSHA standards, and environmental regulations.
  • Maintain a clean and organized batch plant, completing daily and weekly verification checklists.
  • Ensure batch plant is operated safely, including performing lock-out/tag-out procedures when required.
  • Accurately complete daily batch reports, tracking material usage and production data.
  • Keep all areas of the batch plant clean, free of obstructions and aggregate over-spill.
  • Assist in other areas of the plant as needed.

Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years of experience assisting with the management and operation of high-production portable concrete batch plants in large-scale construction environments.
  • Extensive knowledge of concrete mix designs, batching systems, and quality control procedures.
  • Experience in preventative and routine maintenance of batch plant equipment, with the ability to perform hands-on maintenance and minor repairs.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to overcome and communicate through challenges.
  • Familiarity with OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations governing batch plant operations.
  • Experience in using batching software, material tracking systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical and operational issues related to batch plant equipment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to coordinate with project management, suppliers, and field teams.
  • Solution-oriented mindset with a commitment to teamwork and promoting the success of the broader team.
  • Willingness to travel up to 100% based on project location and requirements.
  • Familiarity with Cemco batch plants and Jonel batch control systems is a plus.

Physical Demands & Work Environment
This role requires frequent standing, walking, climbing, and working around heavy machinery and elevated surfaces. The Batch Plant Superintendent must be able to lift, push, or pull up to 100 lbs. and perform manual labor as required. Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, and dust.
