RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client that is seeking a Senior Systems Architect in Draper, UT.
Overview:
The Senior Systems Architect is responsible for designing, guiding, and governing the architecture of enterprise systems, applications, integrations, and underlying infrastructure. This role partners closely with business stakeholders, engineering teams, and IT leaders to translate business needs into scalable, secure, and resilient technology solutions. The Senior Systems Architect plays a key role in modernizing the technology landscape, establishing architectural standards, and providing strategic direction across the full lifecycle of initiatives-from concept through delivery and optimization.
This position also contributes to enterprise architecture maturity by applying recognized frameworks and tools, driving consistency, and identifying opportunities for automation and AI-enabled capabilities that enhance system performance and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design and document enterprise and solution architectures, standards, and technical specifications
* Translate business and technical requirements into scalable, secure, and high-performing system designs
* Produce architectural artifacts including diagrams, interface definitions, logical models, and as-built documentation
* Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend approaches for system modernization and optimization
* Provide architectural guidance for service lifecycle initiatives and cross-functional programs
* Collaborate with business partners and technical teams to gather, refine, and validate requirements
* Guide implementation teams to ensure solutions align with approved architectural direction and standards
*Communicate architectural decisions, trade-offs, risks, and recommendations to technical and business leadership
* Apply enterprise architecture frameworks to support governance, transparency, and long-term planning
REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
* 6+ years of experience in systems engineering, solution architecture, or closely related technical roles
* Demonstrated experience designing and implementing enterprise-scale system architectures
* Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform, including PaaS and serverless architectures
* Strong understanding of application architecture, integration patterns (API-based, messaging, data pipelines), and system interoperability
* Proficiency with architecture and documentation tools such as Visio, Lucidchart, or LeanIX
* Solid understanding of infrastructure components (compute, storage, networking, virtualization) and how they support applications
Preferred Qualifications:
* TOGAF certification
* ITIL 4 certification (Foundation or higher)
* Experience with databases, data modeling, and data flow design
* Background in microservices, containerized workloads, or modern cloud-native architectures
* Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines
* Exposure to AI-assisted operations, AIOps, or intelligent automation tools
* Knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks such as TOGAF or Zachman
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
